Location: Centennial Center 4t" floor, Suite 401 Ronda Cell: 206-450-7203 Parks, Recreation and Community Services & Arts Commission MISSION: Provide leadership in establishing cultural opportunities and arts education. Improve the quality of life and enhance the aesthetic environment. Promote Kent as a center for great arts. II TREASURER: Report No III GUESTS: -Val and Tay - Dreams Unlimited project • Val and Tay introduced the project they will be implementing at the YouMeWe festival and in the week leading up to the event. Arts Commissioners participated by writing their own dreams on their hands and being photographed for the mural. -Bill Ellis - Economic Development • Bill introduced himself to the Commission and expressed the hope that Economic Development and the Arts Commission can begin to work together on various projects as appropriate. • Discussed one potential project that Bill is working on with the Kent Downtown Partnership: Turning a shipping container into a display opportunity for local companies, artists, etc. - Postponed IV COMMITTEE BUSINESS: A. Performing Arts/Committee Programs Topic Action Item 1. 2014-2015 Spotlight Series No -Upcoming shows: Marc Cohn 1/22/15 - 350 sold tickets and counting Broadway's Next H!T Musical 2/6/15 - 69 tickets sold 2. 2015 Booking No -Update: No update at this time Next Meeting: As full Commission - February 10, 5:30 p.m., Centennial 401 (Staff will communicate via email about bookings as needed) B. Visual Arts/Acquisitions Committee Action Item Topic 1. Centennial Center Gallery No -Current show: Suze Woolf and Molly Magai 2. Summer Art Exhibit/Opening Reception No Staff is currently working with 4Culture staff to implement the call to artists and online application process. Potential artist jurors will be presented next month for approval. 3. 2015-2019 City Art Plan No Visual arts committee will stay after the February 10 full Commission meeting to begin the process.
