KENT BICYCLE ADVISORY BOARD
PUBLIC MEETING
December 30, 2014 at 5:45 PM.

The Kent Bicycle Advisory Board held its public meeting on Tuesday, December 30,
2014 at 5:45 PM in the North Conference Room of the Centennial Building 400 W.
Gowe St. Kent, WA. The meeting included the following items: Results are in italics.
Action items are in Red italics.
1. Called to Order at 5:45 PM.
2. Review of 2014
What was finished: SE 256t" St from 104t" Ave SE to 116t" Ave SE
Look ahead to 2015:
What is planned: _Release a map with updated bicycle information as a separate map
or in the Kent Parks and Facilities Map. Follow up with Parks - Mel.
We would like to see plans for these items created: (Mel)
Identify and paint the thru bike lanes where they are missing on the left sides of right
turn pockets, Identify road segments for installing Sharrows.
Identify road segments to be re-configured using "Road Diet" techniques.
Identify road segments for installing "Green Bike" lanes, where cars cross Bike Lanes
Consider doing a bicycle video.
Does a "bike/pedestrian" 2015 plan exist? (Mark)
3. The update (v05) of Parks and Facilities Map was submitted about Dec 11, 2014 to
the Parks Department for use in updating their map. Follow up with Parks - Mel.
4. Where is Parks on their Kent Valley Loops project? It was reported that Parks was
energizing workers and working on way-finding. Follow up with Parks - Mel.
5. Two documents, one for SE 2481" St and one for 1161" Ave SE, were given to Public
Works. They contained information on the Shoulders/Bike Lanes/Sidewalks. What
action is needed to make
these streets bicycle friendly? Formally submit these and follow up with Public Works
- Mel.

Can the work be scheduled?
6. Placement of Sharrows and use of "road diet" in Kent still appears to be an open item.
From (above) the look ahead to 2105. Follow up with Public Works - Mel.
7. Discuss creating a letter with KBAB endorsing a two way multi-use trail along S 2281"
St. Needed by Jan 5t". It was decided to submit the support letter, due date is Jan
9th. Mel.
8. Status of a Cross Valley Bike Route(s) - East Hill portion.
In work. Mel.
9. Proposed Kent Bicycle Advisory Board (KBAB) meeting dates for 2015 will be on the
last Monday of every month except May. Dates approved - contact Facilities to
schedule the room Mel.
Jan 26, Feb 23, Mar 30, Apr 27, May 26-Tues, Jun 29, Jul 27, Aug 31, Sep 28, Oct 26,
Nov 30 and Dec 28.
10. Added items for this meeting:
A. Sam noted that he will miss the Feb. Mar, and Apr. meetings. He will be coaching
soccer. Consider changing the time.
B. Need more members.
11. Agenda items for the next meeting:
A. Work on supporting a Complete Streets ordinance for Kent.

Old News:
Review proposal to buy and install crosswalk signs on the streets that cross the
Interurban Trail. Cost estimate and location data were provided.
