HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Committees - Lodging Tax Advisory Committee - 09/30/2010 Lodging Tax Advisory Committee September 30, 2010 Start Time 2:00 pm Centennial Conference Room 401 Committee Members Present: Chair, Les Thomas, Andrew Hutchinson, John Casey, David Kwok, Beth Sylves, Aaron Watne, John Casey Others present: Julie Pulliam, Bob Nachlinger, Katherin Kertzman, Kurt Hanson Chair, Les Thomas called the meeting to order at 3:05 pm. ShoWare Marquee - Kurt Hanson Kurt gave an update the marquee is out to bid, not much to talk about yet. Information will be available at the October 21, 2010 meeting. Chamber of Commerce Update - Andrea Keikkala absent No report was given Seattle Southside - Katherin Kertzman Katherin reported on the small growth in the in the August total compared to last year at the same time, a handout was provided. • SSS key areas of focus in 2011 are to extend the brand identity "every adventure needs a home base. Make Seattle Southside yours!" • Build on partnership momentum • Use agencies and resident to innovative way to pull prospective visitors to SSS. • Gain increased customer usability of the website with mobile site • Expand advocacy • Coordinate efforts to ensure consistent level of funding Major initiatives • SSVS online and print media campaign • Tourism map • Regional Co-op campaign (Visiting friends & relatives) • Sponsorships • Tourism Networking • Social media • Website evolution mobile site • Funding Budget - Bob Nachlincier Bob reported the budget report is as of August 31, 2010 and provided a handout. More information will be available after Council meets on October 19, 2010 Approval of minutes - David Kwok moved to approve the minutes of the August 2, 2010 meeting, Andrew Hutchinson seconded - Motion passes. Next Meeting Date- September 30, 2010 at 3 pm, Centennial North & South Conference Rooms (meeting time had to be changed to 2:00 pm due to meeting conflicts) September 30, 2010 agenda - 2011 budget.
