September 15, 2005
Committee Members Present: Tim Clark, Jacquie Alexander, Denise Gray, Vickie Molzer, Andy
Wangstad, and Greg Haffner. Others Present: Nathan Torgelson, Bob Nachlinger, Robin
Hasbrouck and Kari Gallaway.
The meeting was called to order by Clark at 2:10 p.m. and introductions were made.
Financial Report. Nachlinger distributed copies of the Operating Fund as of August 31, 2005
and explained the figures. After a brief discussion, Wangstad moved to recommend the budget
to the City Council. Haffner seconded and the motion carried.
Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Torgelson noted that he expects to hear the State's
decision in the very near future and that he will email the results to the committee.
Seattle Southside Visitor Services. Gallaway distributed invitations to the networking
summit to be held on September 22 and explained the information on their September update.
Torgelson suggested checking into having signs for tourist sites and possibly the business
district along highways.
Kent Lodging_Association. Hasbrouck updated the committee on information gathered from
the Chamber's website. Torgelson asked anyone with ideas on activities for 2006 to talk to
Robin.
Approval of Minutes. Haffner moved to approve the minutes of May 19, 2005. Wangstad
seconded and the motion carried.
Hotel/Condo Complex. Torgelson explained the project and the required agreements, and
noted that construction is scheduled for early 2006 and opening for early 2007. He distributed
various brochures relating to downtown development.
Non-Voting Committee Member. Clark noted that the Mayor has requested that a non-
voting member from a school be added to the committee. Wangstad moved to solicit a non-
voting member from a local high school. Haffner seconded and the motion carried.
Next Meeting. The next meeting was scheduled for October 20, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. Clark
asked that the Bicycle Race be discussed at that meeting, and it was noted that the Chamber
budget will also appear on the agenda.
Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 2:55 p.m.
