HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Committees - Lodging Tax Advisory Committee - 03/20/2001 LODGING TAX ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES for March 20, 2001 The regular meeting of the Lodging Tax Advisory committee was called to order at 3:10 p.m. by chair, Rico Yingling. Committee Members Present: Kathy Madison and Andy Wangstad Staff Present: Jacki Skaught Members Absent: Don Campbell, Carol Vass Guests: Lynn Edwards Approval of Meeting Minutes for January 16, 2000: The minutes for the January 16, 2000 meeting were approved as read. Financial Report: Non given Chamber Marketing and Lodging Association Contract Report: Kathy introduced Lynn Edwards, CMP Inc. Lynn has fined tuned the marketing plan; guest surveys, search out 50 best government and business leads for follow-up; and sales manager training. See handouts for further details. Member Vacancy: With the departure of Ken Mendoza of the Hawthorne Suites the committee is down by/two-hotel motel representative. The committee unanimously nominated VickiteMolzer, Hawthorn Suites and Bob Jammerman, GM at Stonebrook Suites to join the committee. Discussion regarding process for determination of project funding: One suggestion would be public process another would be to have the lodging committee decide the specifics ahead of time. Lynn will put together items for the committee on funding policies and forms. Kent Historical Society: Item postponed due to time restraint. Added Item — King County Life Ad: Lodging Association placed and ad last year, the theme was designed to attract overnight stays. The cost of a two-page ad at the non-profit rate with full color is $4,300. The cost of a one-page ad is $2,000 plus color. Copy deadline is May 4. The committee decided to hold the two page ad. Dena Laurent will work on the ad copy. Kathy will do a once over. Action Item: Rico will work with May to get the financial information out to committee members. Next Meeting: To be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
