Race Schedule: Races began on time at 8:30am with the last race starting at 4:50pm. Roads were closed from 7:30am—6:OOpm. Highlights: ❑ Approximately 400 youth and adult racers participated with athletes coming from local and regional racing clubs from surrounding states and Canada. ❑ Family friendly event ❑ Very well organized with excellent volunteer participation ❑ Excellent way to promote cycling as recreation, exercise, transportation, etc. ❑ Some downtown Kent businesses saw this event as an excellent way to introduce Kent to new visitors that would not normally come downtown. ❑ In keeping with Kent's designation of Sportstown Washington Challenges: ❑ Limited spectator turn out potentially due to bad weather and minimal marketing within the community by the event organizer. ❑ Street closures have a fairly significant impact on city services, specifically Police and Public Works. ❑ Some downtown business owners voiced concern about access to their businesses and felt these kinds of events negatively impact business. Future: ❑ Unknown ❑ No contract from the organizer regarding 2006 ❑ 2006 construction will force a change in course ElParks Department staff will keep this committee informed about this and other related events for 2006 .. e © 2 com m _ co $ { ° U- b o ® % Q ` ! _ e . i co§ ® 6 m c q q OD q J / 2 j 2 q m ® & m ) k \ / E ¥ $ $ @5E - & \ q 2 k2 k \ k ( 2 ) Q ° § mom § ® co Cl) g ® a m m o $ 22Rk% © R m m a 2 co2 CL - N m ® R C ° R ) E 2 2 # & a 04 _ CD 9 a m m ( ) ) v Cl) w m o ® e \ § \ n o w 3 a o Cl) G / ƒ i o A ® m ® o ~ 4 Q $ m CN CD co \g g kk/- mk om co LO m co In q ,F _ $ § j L . . 9 9e § 2 $ a. m ~ 3 } 3 2 E = moo » 4 w ± aae Q 8 R cog % F- ® 2 to 2 o m » - a m \ .
