Each year, track use at Pacific Raceways is donated to local organizations to help raise money for important causes. Most notably Team Seattle, a group of local racers, has raised $2.1 million for Seattle's Children's Hospital. For the last ten years Team Seattle has competed in the 24-hours of Daytona, raising money with each lap they run. In addition, both the Society of Vintage Racing Enthusiasts (SOVREN t Fa Pacific and raise the All emD money orrag cing Chi drenCsation HospitaHaDnd other use the track each year to turn laps a charitable causes. Pacific Raceways was built, in part, as an alternative for young people who otherwise would test their racing skills on local roads. Today, Pacific Raceways hosts a weekly high school drag racing program and an educational program called "Beat the Heat," which pits high school student racers against local law enforcement officers. Because of the competitive, yet safe racing environment Pacific provides, both the kids and police officers feel it's a great alternative to racing on the streets. Each year, Pacific Raceways is host to the NHRA national drag series which attracts hundreds of participants and thousands of race fans to south King County. 100,000 people will visit the track over the three day event. Hotels and restaurants from Tacoma to Everett— particularly those in Kent, Auburn, Covington and Federal Way—will serve these visitors. A recent NHRA study, assessing the economic impacts of their events, peg the amount of new revenue created directly by the event as a $10 million infusion to the region. A recent study commissioned by International Speedway Corporation., the track developer for the proposed new motor speedway in Kitsap County, estimated that the "statewide economic benefit" of a new racing facility that would attract two major racing weekends and one regional event per-year would be $139.5 million a year. While any major sports facility will have an impact statewide, most of the monies spent will remain in the local vicinity near the facility. Pacific Raceways is an important civic and economic asset to South King County. The new upgrades and expansions planned by the Fiorito family will help increase revenues to the local economy and provide a venue where residents of all ages can enjoy recreational or professional racing activities. It will also provide additional jobs to the south county area by centralizing the many of the motor sports related business currently scattered through Puget Sound. * according to "Economic and Fiscal Benefits Analysis of a Motor Speedway in Kitsap County", published September 14, 2005 Pacific Raceways - Where The Excitement Is Accelerating Page 1 of 1 Home 2006 Schedule Motocross Facility Info Video Gallery Fast Times Directions Local Weather Feedback Survey Ticketing Drag Racing Road Racing Fan Glide Photo Gallery Forms Accomodations Website Links Contact Us Local Accomodations wort Inn F TERM, WAY - - I c' L ` 24415 Russell Road,Kent,Washington,98032-1787 31622 Pacific Hwy South ,Federal Way,Washington 98003 253-854-8767 Fax:253-850-7667 253-529-0101 Fax:253-529-2200 Reservations:800-648-3311 .y I UZ e ae+t i l r memo r$ i`ltt3t r 1801 E.Valley Road,Renton,Washington 98055 One- 16th Street NE,Auburn,Washington 98002 425-430-1414 Fax:425-430-8577 253-333-8888 Fax:253-833-3133 LARKSPUR LANDING RENT , LARKSPUR •HpSPITALITYt 1 1701 E.Valley Road,Renton,Washington 98055 401 8th Street S.W.,Auburn,Washington 98001 425-235-1212 Fax:425-235-3616 253-887-7600 Fax:253-887-7676 Reservations:888-624-4854 A.
