Lodging Tax Revenue Update Shane Sorenson provided an update remotely on current Lodging Tax Revenues and receipts to the City, for purposes of determining an appropriate allocation for a grant funding cycle planned for Spring 2023. B. Reappoint David Kwok to the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee Michelle Wilmot provides an overview of the strict requirements imposed at the state level for staffing the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, and hence the challenges it presents. MOTION: Recommend the re-appointment of David Kwok to the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee for a new 3 year term effective from January 17, 2023 thru January 16, 2026. LTAC Grant to ECD to Support the Visit Kent Tourism Promotion Campaign Presentations by both members of the Jay Ray Team and their colleagues on r the east coast from Datafy, who produce and manage narrowly targeted data driven marketing campaigns using goelocation data from personal devices, is 4- somewhat hampered by technical issues and problematic acoustics in a split meeting space. o L The 2023 campaign, which was ongoing as of the date of this meeting, has Q demonstrated increased impressions and engagements, and the JayRay proposal for 2023 is well received by Committee Members, who vote to a recommend that proposal head to Council, by way of the Economic and o Community Development Committee meeting in January. N N O The committee agrees that they would like to take a closer look at the findings from the soon to conclude 2022 campaign, so JayRay and Datafy will return in early 2023 for a deeper dive into their campaign results and o findings. - MOTION: Recommend Council award $133,500.00 Lodging Tax Funds r to Economic and Community Development to renew and invigorate the Visit Kent tourism promotion campaign currently managed by Jay Ray. For this meeting's presentation, JayRay will focus on data provided by Datafy, their partner in staging data driven geolocation targeted marketing campaigns. Other topics will be Kent hotel and tourism business trends with broader industry correlations and findings from the fall/winter marketing campaign, which concluded January 31, 2023.
