Reason and Background for cnange Due to supply chain issues, delivery time for restrained joint pipe materials listed in 7-09.2 was quoted by suppliers as between 38 and 40 weeks. Waiting for delivery would result in significant project delay. Restrained Joint gaskets and standard watermain pipe were available within 2 weeks of ordering. The City elected to allow restrained joint gaskets on this project to avoid a significant delay. This also resulted in a cost savings to the City. III. Pipe truck, excavator, and (1/2) loader time should be there as they are directly involved in the work. We are taking the stance of 2 minutes and making the following changes to the credit: • Using Field Lock Gasket, the installation of the pipe will still need to be just as precise as installing TR Flex. With field lock, there is not adjustment or re -doing the pipe once driven home. • Foreman time and truck, loader, and pipe truck do not apply since time savings is under a day and their resources will be applied to other areas of work during the pipe operation If the city does not agree with this, maybe we can set up a teams meeting to discuss, Thanks, David Baus SCI Infrastructure, LLC 2821 S. 154th ST SeaTac, WA 98188 206.369.3905 Cell 206.242.0633 Office 206.242.0792 FAX 800.255.0633 Toll Free Contractor * SCIINL*993JA From: Cameron Bloomer <cbloomer kbacm.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 22, 2022 2:57 PM To: David Baus <David.Baus@scibuilds.com> Cc: Alesia Parker <parkera@its-seattle.com>; Jamie Masters <*masters@kbacm.com>; Ken Brumley <ken.brumlev@scibuilds.com>; Andrew Jonson <andrew.ionson@scibuilds.com> Subject: RE: 76th Ave S - TR Flex to Field Lock Pricing Credit Hi David, Thanks for the invoices. We don't agree there is no time savings for deleting steps 6-10 of the install instructions below. Attached is a counter proposal with 10 minutes per joint, 71 total joints. Comes in right around $25,000. Please review and if we can agree to this, ill draft the change order. Thank you, ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Pipe and hninq, 12" 20" TWO BELL SLOTS 1. Lay pipe or fitting such that both of the bell slots are accessible (in the horizontal position ifpossible). 2. Clean the socket and insert a Tyton Gasket. 3. Clean the pipe spigot end back to the assembly stripes. 4. Lubricate the exposed surface of the gasket and the pipe spigot end back to the weld bead. 5. Make a conventional push -on joint assembly, fully homing the pipe until the first assembly stripe is in the bell socket. Keep the joint in straight alignment during assembly. 6. Insert lower locking segment into a bell slot and slide the segment around the pipe. 7. Insert upper locking segment into the same bell slot and rotate around the pipe. 8. Hold the upper segment in place and wedge the rubber retainer into the slot between the two locking segments. 9. Repeat steps 6-8 for other slot Make sure that all 4locking segments and 2 rubber retainers are securely in place. 10. Extend the joint to remove the stack in the locking segment cavity. Joint extension is necessary to attain the marked laying length on the pipe and to minimize growth or extension of the line as it is pressurized. (Refer to the Toble on page 2l.) 11. Set the joint deflection as required. (See ruble on page 2l.) Cameron Bloomer, PE C 206.819.7148 ( cbloomer@kbacm.com KBA, Inc. SCI believes there is no labor credit due for switching systems. 1,364 LF of pipe to install, using 20-Foot sticks gives 69 connections. If each connection saves a max of 2 minutes per connection, that gives 2.5 hours of crew time saved. All watermain needs to be installed thoroughly, and free of debris to be able to pass purities and pressure test.
