Item Description
1. Call to order Chair Cox called the meeting to order at 5:37 p.m.
2. Roll Call Excused: Maloney, French, DuBois
-Welcome new Commissioners: Kelly Spreitzer and Sandra Pearce (alternate)
3. Changes to the Agenda 7. D. Sound Transit Garage panel report, and 8.C. Give
Me Culture grant application
4. August Minutes Olmsted made a motion to approve the minutes as written.
Stekovic seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
5. July month end reports were distributed for review
6. Performing Arts Committee
A. Spotlight Series 2022-2023
-Opening performance, Catapult Magic Shadows was cancelled by the performer.
Ticket holders have been notified and refunded.
Darlingside on Saturday, October 22: 79 tickets sold. Michael Taskey will serve as
an usher. One additional usher will be needed.
7. Visual Arts/Acquisitions Committee
A. Traffic Signal Control Box Eight of the nine new box wraps have been installed.

The final wrap will be installed at 2 Avenue and Gowe Street when the park
remodel is complete.
B. Gallery September-October Portable Collection
C. Chestnut Ridge Dedication Shooting for a date in mid-to-late October.
D. Sound Transit parking garage panel report
8. General updates/other business
A. Give Me Culture Grant/Project Change Request
The public may submit written public comments that relate to an agenda item by emailing:
cityclerk@kentwa.gov by 3:30 p.m. on the day of this commission meeting. After 3:30 p.m.,
written public comments may only be submitted in person by presenting them to the commission
secretary at the public meeting. Written public comments that do not relate to a committee agenda
item are not permitted. Written public comments are not read into the record.
Unless otherwise noted, the Arts Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. the 2nd Wednesday of each

Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra Stekovic made a motion to approve the
proposed change in project scope. Olmsted seconded and the motion carried
unanimously.
B. SOCO Culture Membership meeting on Tuesday, September 20 in Tukwila.
C. Give Me Culture Grant Application
Virginia Shelby Helle Keep your heART Olmsted made a motion to reject the
proposal based on lack and clarity of information. Treese seconded and the motion
carried unanimously. Staff will provide feedback to the applicant and invite them to
apply again.
