Arts Commission Minutes Commissioners: Chair Suzanne Smith, Vice Chair Dan Cox, Treasurer Gerard Philpotts, Secretary Susan Bagrationoff, Secretary Christy Caravaglio, Bayard DuBois, Tonya Goodwillie, Campbell Kristenson, Susan Machler, Linda Mackintosh, Colleen Maloney, Hal O’Brien, Michael Taskey, Sandi Westman, (Sherelle Owens, Alternate) April 9, 2019 5:30 p.m. Item Description Action 1. Call to order – Chair Smith called the meeting to order at 5:34 p.m. 2. Roll Call – Excused Absences: Caravaglio, Cox, Goodwillie, Maloney 3. Changes to the Agenda – None 4. March Minutes YES Mackintosh made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Kristenson seconded and the motion carried unanimously. 5. Treasurer’s Report 6. Performing Arts Committee A. Spotlight Series 2018-2019 Report – Final show was Piano Battle on 4/5, 92% capacity show with 320 tickets sold. Educational outreach at Meeker Middle School served 200 students. 7. Visual Arts/Acquisitions Committee A. Kent Creates: -Recently closed exhibit – New Year: Voting will remain open until 4/15 -Next Exhibit – Awakening (4/1 – 6/30) B. Morrill Meadows Parcourse project signage – May meeting C. Gallery -Blake Carter and Barry Johnson (4/3 – 5/17) – Reception on 4/18, 5:30-7:00 p.m. D. Summer Art Exhibit jurors YES Taskey made a motion to approve Nichole Dement and Mary McInnis as the professional artist jurors for the 2019 Summer Art Exhibit. Philpotts seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Mackintosh made a motion to not award funding, based on lack of public benefit/funding request for a for-profit business. DuBois seconded and the motion carried unanimously. -Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra Bagrationoff made a motion to approve full funding. DuBois seconded and the motion carried unanimously. B.
