Michael Taskey made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Christy
Caravaglio seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
6. Treasurer’s Report – None NO
7. Performing Arts Committee
A. Spotlight Series NO
-2018-2019 Update – 362 attended Peter Yarrow on 1/19, Seattle Rock Orchestra
on 2/2 and Letter Aloud on 2/15 are up next. Ushers for SRO: Linda Mackintosh,
Suzanne Smith, and Tonya Goodwillie (maybe). Ushers for Letters Aloud: Sandi
Westman.
-2019-2020 Booking – Update in February
B. Summer Concert Series – 2019 Schedule YES
Michael Taskey made a motion to approve the schedule as presented. Christy
Caravaglio seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
8. Visual Arts/Acquisitions Committee
A. Kent Creates:
-Exhibit – New Year NO
B. City Art Plan Projects
-Traffic Control box – Currently being printed, NO
will need to wait for warmer, dry weather to install.

-Morrill Meadows Parcourse sculptures – update NO
Artist is currently working on design development.

9. General updates/other business
A. Give Me Culture applications YES
-Steel Magic Northwest for “Blast into Spring” concert: Susan Bagrationoff made a
motion to approve $1,000 in funding. Hal O’Brien seconded and the motion carried
unanimously.
-Trey Schaaf for “Solstice” graphic novel project: Commissioners decided that the
project was not a fit for the Give Me Culture program at this time. Christy
Caravaglio made a motion to not approve funding. Linda Mackintosh seconded and
the motion carried unanimously.
B. 4Culture Creative Consultancies Update NO
Artist Lucia Neare is on board and will be working with staff to prepare a more
detailed proposal to submit to 4Culture.
C. Commissioner vacancies/applications NO
Campbell Kristenson will be confirmed as a Commissioner and Sherelle Owens will
be confirmed as an alternate at the February 5 City Council meeting, filling our
current vacancies.
D. SOCO Culture NO
Christy Caravaglio shared that SOCO Culture is planning an Arts Commissioner
summit for September and invited Commissioners to share ideas for topics
E. Kent School District/Arts Education – no update NO
F. Other: NO
-Arts and Heritage Day in Olympia is slated for Wednesday, February 6. Christy
Caravaglio is the Team Captain for the 33rd District, and Barbara McMichael of
SOCO Culture is Team Captain for the 47th.
-Community Arts Support Program recipients will be recognized at the February 5
City Council meeting. Please plan to attend if possible.
