CITY STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT:Rob Brown. 1.Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 5:45PM, with Wendy Gravespresiding. 2.Roll Call Joe Cimaomo and John Otakie were absent. 3.Approval of Minutes December 30, 2019meeting minutes were reviewedand approved. Andy Sobczyk moved to accept the minutes and Daren Osbornseconded the motion.The minutes were approved by the board. 4.City of Kent Update KBABMember Recruitment and Interviews KBAB membership recruitment interviews for threeopen positionswere finalized. (John Otakie submitted his resignation.) Allthree were submitted by Rob Brownto Mayor Ralph with recommendations of approval. Rob will follow up with Her Honor on December 2. Fourth and Willis WDOT Round About Update January 9,2020,5–7 p.m. second community outreach open house meeting regarding the project will meet in council chambers.Mel Roberts attended the first meeting and Rob Brown felt that the first meeting went very well with 40 people attending. 5.Event Hosting Follow-Up May 2020 Bike Rodeo Julie Dunn presented Cascade Bicycle Club’s website information for support of Bike Rodeos Julie Dunn and Lynell Mooney will chair this event.Cascade Bike Club Kit and information supplied by Cascade Bike Club. Dates considered: o May 9, Saturday o May 16, Saturday o Early release on Wednesdays (Kent schools) Locations considered: o Showare Parking Lot Page|1 Kent Bicycle Advisory BoardDecember 30, 2019 MinutesKent, Washington Approved o Faith Church across from Meridian Elementary th o Fire Station (Meridian) Parking Area or Station on 116Avenue o School parking lots Action Items for Bike Rodeo: Rob Brown to check City for Showare parking lot use and procedures and contact for KBAB Lynell Mooney to check with Valley Medical Center and Fire Districts on bike helmet giveaways Lynell Mooney to contact Fire Station on Kent-Kangley and 116th about their parking area Andy Sobczyk will contact Cascade Bicycle Clubvolunteer coordinatorfor bicycles to be used by kids that don’t own a bike. Lynell Mooney will contact Cedar Heights PE department about students’ program for PE credit—use Interurban or other location for a down and back bike ride during the rodeo. Julie Dunn will contact Cascade Bicycle Club for… o May 9 and 16 dates for using the Bike Rodeo Kit. o Bike helmet giveaways Julie Dunn will contact Meeker’s Place on Second Avenue about supplying bicyclesfor kids at the rodeo, or what they may have to offer. Lynell Mooney will contact Kent Area Council PTA about volunteers and advertisement for the rodeo. May 15, 2020 Bike Everywhere Rest Station Andy Sobczyk will lead this effort Foster Park on Green River Trail and Interurban on May 15, 2020 from 6–9 a.m. Mayor Proclamation for Bike Everywherein May Action Items for Bike Everywhere Rest Station May 15 Wendy Graves will check with Smith Bros. for donated items Rob Brown will speak to City Parks about using Foster Park for location Andy Sobczyk will procure Panera and Starbucks food and coffee. Andy Sobczyk will check with Cascade Bicycle Club about using their 501 ( c )(3)instead of asking City of Kent. Rob Brown will check with City of Kent policy on providing a non-profit letter to businesses for procurement of food and drink for the station.Or, if the mayoral proclamation would work for the non-profit event. Rob Brown will notify the maintenance crew and told us that there is a website reporting tool on the City of Kent website for reporting maintenance items. Mel Roberts introduced a webinar that features current engineering practices, planning processes, decision makers, promote bicycle facilitiesand planning.
