BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Andy Sobczyk, Vice Chair; Board Secretary, Lynell
Mooney; Board members: Joe Cimaomo, Julie Dunn, Daren Osborn, Dave Peterson,
Mel Roberts, Nik Shetye, Connie Stolpp.
CITY STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: Rob Brown & Eric Preston.
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:45 PM, with Andy Sobczyk presiding.
2. Roll Call
Aaron Dent and Wendy Graves were absent.
3. Changes to Agenda
Mel Roberts asked to include #12 Agenda Item, Trail Conditions, to the agenda.
4. Approval of Minutes
January 27, 2020 meeting minutes were reviewed, Julie Dunn moved to accept the
minutes and Nik Shetye seconded the motion to approve the minutes as written.
The minutes were approved by the board.
5. New KBAB Member Introductions
Introductions all around the table including new members, Connie Stolpp, Nik
Shetye and Dave Peterson.
• Action Item: Rob Brown will send out the KBAB membership list (name,
phone and email address).
• Action Item: Rob Brown will find out if City of Kent will set up a KBAB
Facebook page or Slack account.
6. KBAB By-Law Review
KBAB by-laws will be reviewed by KBAB members for March 30 update.
• Joe Cimaomo suggested a provision for excused absences. See Section
12(3).
• Action Item: Rob Brown will send out a WORD copy of the by-laws to the
KBAB members.
• By-Law Review Committee chosen. Suggestions submitted to Mel Roberts
and Joe Cimaomo by March 20, 2020.
7. City of Kent Update
• Street sweeping is scheduled with contractors. They are prioritized after
streets are sanded due to ice and snow
• Interurban trail will be closed as they build the 228th bridge over the trail.
Closures are scheduled for: March 16, 2020. Same detour between James
and Kent Regional Trails Connect just south of 212th.
• May as Bike Everywhere Month as Mayoral Proclamation on April 21, 2020.
KBAB members and bicyclist friends encouraged to attend city council
meeting.

8. Bike Rodeo
Explanation of bike rodeo intent and planning to new members.
• Action Item: Mel Roberts will contact Faith Baptist about contract to use
parking area.
• Action Item: Nik Shetye will contact REI about using Kent area parking area.
• Action Item: Nik Shetye will ask his children to create a poster
• Action Item: Rob Brown will ask city multi-media services department if they
will create a poster.
• Action Item: Lynell Mooney will re-connect with Showare about using parking
area
• Action Item: Rob Brown will see if there is a booth at the Kent Farmer’s
Market where KBAB information can be distributed.
• Action Item: Rob Brown will check with Kent Parks to see if bike lanes can be
added to the parks map.
9. KBAB Event: Rest Station for Bike Everywhere Day
Event background and intent was revisited for the new members. Volunteers are
needed.
10. Separated Bike Lane Design Ideas
Erik Preston presented KBAB with examples of bike lane facilities and a handout to
review for the next meeting. City of Kent plans to have bike lane standards updated
within the year.
• Action Item: KBAB members to review bike facilities handout.
11. Comments Around The Table
• Mel Roberts presented trail conditions and the phone number you can call to
have Kent Parks or Maintenance address the trail issues.
• Action Item: Rob Brown will ask Mayor Ralph to attend a bike ride with KBAB
members
12. Adjournment
At 7:10 PM, meeting was declared adjourned.
