Item Description
1. Call to order Vice Chair Suzanne Smith called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m.
2. Roll Call Susan Bagrationoff, Dan Cox, and Linda Mackintosh are excused
3. Changes to the Agenda - None
4. September Minutes Westman made a motion to approve the minutes as written.
Taskey seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
5. Distributed via email, direct questions to staff
6. Performing Arts Committee
A. Spotlight Series 2020-2021 Staff continues to pursue options for virtual and/or
streaming performances, while closely monitoring state regulations around live
performance. Details are being ironed out for a pre-recorded, webcast performance
of Magical Strings Celtic Yuletide Concert.
7. Visual Arts/Acquisitions Committee
A. Public Art Updates:
Morrill Meadows Parcourse installation is complete; construction fencing will be
removed and signage installed. Meeker Street entry replacement banners will be
installed on 10/19. Downtown rotating mural project is moving forward.
B. Gallery
- Brett Rude and Ian Shearer Nov/Dec show CANCELLED
C. Kent Creates:
-Quarantine Art exhibit 68 entries
-New exhibit Commission brainstormed ideas, staff will email a survey

month at Centennial Center, Conference Room 402, 400 West Gowe St., Kent, WA 98032.

8.General updates/other business
A. Give Me Culture Grant Application: Olga Chinka/Book Donation
Caravaglio made a motion to approve the full request of $560. Kristenson seconded
and the motion carried unanimously.
B. 2021 Community Arts Support Program: Deadline is October 23. Westman,
Caravaglio, Philpotts, and Owens volunteered for the review panel. Staff will email
to schedule a review date.
C. National Arts & Humanities Month Proclamation Staff accepted at 10/6 City
Council meeting.
D. 2021 Officers Updated bylaws require only Chair, Vice Chair, and Treasurer.
The Chair will be in touch with Commissioners for 2021 nominations.
E. SOCO Culture Report None
F. Kent School District Report None
G. Remaining 2020 meetings Barring unexpected changes, the remainder of 2020
meetings will take place via Zoom. In place of the typical December gift exchange,
Commissioners opted for a Secret Santa activity. Staff will assign Santas and be
in touch.
