Arts Commission Minutes Commissioners: Chair Dan Cox, Vice Chair Michael Taskey, Treasurer Gerard Philpotts, Christy Caravaglio, Bayard DuBois, Kerry French, Campbell Kristenson, Colleen Maloney, Hal O’Brien, Bryan Ohno, Ryan Olmsted, Countess Stekovic, Jen Treese, Sandi Westman, (Alternate: Vacant) (Brenda Fincher, City Council Liaison) May 11, 2022 5:30 p.m. City Hall, Council Chambers, 220 4th Avenue South Item 1. Call to order – Vice Chair Taskey called the meeting to order at 5:34 p.m. 2. Roll Call – Excused: Cox, French, Stekovic 3. Changes to the Agenda – None 4. April Minutes – DuBois made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Taskey seconded and the motion carried unanimously. 5. Treasurer’s Report – Distributed for review 6. Performing Arts Committee A. Summer Concert Series – Launches July 6 B. Spotlight Series 2022-2023 Booking – Five performances currently booked. Waiting to hear on another three offers. 7. Visual Arts/Acquisitions Committee A. Titus Railroad Park Mural – Relocation update: Wall lease agreement is with City Legal Department awaiting review. Projecting installation in late June or early July. B. Gallery -April/May: Enid Smith-Becker and Susanne Kelly C. Summer Art Exhibit -Purchase Jury – Wed., June 8, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.; Olmsted to serve as Commission representative. -Opening Reception – Wed., June 8, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. D. Traffic Signal Control Box – Jury selected nine artists who will present their concepts at the July 13 Arts Commission meeting. E. Kent Creates -Current Exhibit – Here Comes the Sun – June 30 deadline. General updates/other business A. Give Me Cultural Grant Application -Julie Seitz/Art Making/Unveiling at Historic Pet Cemetery Ohno made a motion to approve full funding in the amount of $1,000 for the application. Maloney seconded and the motion carried unanimously. B. SOCO Culture – No report. C. Alternate position – Staff will review previous applications. 9. Next Meeting – Wed., July 13, 2022 (June meeting canceled) 10. Adjourn – Vice Chair Taskey adjourned the meeting at 6:02 p.m.
