The original contract has the City suppliying the piles for the Type 2 log structures. The timber piles were
stored on site from previous projects. Upon inspection by the project consultant Herrara, it was
determined the stored piles had decayed and were not suitable for use. Olson Brothers has agreed to
supply more Type 2 timber piles @ $650.00 per each, honoring the existing Bid Item # 8040 unit price
for $20.00 per foot for the installation. This change records reason for additional quantities.

While onsite we would also like Herrera to inspect the stockpiled logs we have onsite for the
Type II timber piles, there is some concern regarding their age and we would like confirmation
they will work for these purposes. They are stockpiled near the 516 overpass.
Jason, can you provide Mark and Ian with the pile driving schedule when finalized to help with
planning?
Finally, I will actually be out of the office starting tomorrow (6/29) but will return by Tuesday,

Thank you for sharing this update. This is my mistake solely, I was the one who initially directed that the on-site logs be
used for pilings without confirming it with Herrera in advance.
Regarding the budgeting for the new pilings we are fine to move ahead with negotiations with Olson on the needed type
2 timber piles. We have some money so if we're in the ballpark of the other bid cost we should be fine. l'lltry and
monitor as that dollar figure comes in.

Please accept my apologies, but I had misunderstood our log problem that has been a topic this
week. We had indeed intended to provide 36 logs for 30'piles in the 18 each Type 2 Habitat
Structures.
Herrera was on site today and determined that none of the logs on site are suitable for use as
piles (nor are they suitable for the above ground logs). We will need to ask the contractor to
provide these logs. As Jason has shared below, that will cost the project $48,096.00 if the
contractor agrees to provide them at an existing bid item price for providing similar logs.
please let us know if you are okay with moving forward and seeking the contractor's concurrence
to provide the needed 36 logs. Note that availability may be a problem.

Thea from Herrera visited the site today to inspect the pile logs. Thea informed us that the logs
stored on site for the type 2 structures are no good. She is putting together a full report for us
when she returns to her office. This means we will need 36 30' logs for the type 2 piles' If we
can get Olson to use the original bid prices. It will cost $48,096 (36 x $1336.00). Please give us
