SUBJECT: Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Program State Funding -
Authorize
MOTION: I move to authorize the Mayor to accept state funds in the
amount of $1,163,588 for the four rectangular rapid flashing beacons
project and authorize amending the budget, subject to final terms and
conditions acceptable to the Public Works Director and City Attorney.
SUMMARY: The City successfully competed for grant funds for design and
construction through the WSDOT Pedestrian & Bicycle Safety Program. This project
will design and construct four rectangular rapid flash beacons (RRFB) at:
1. 104th Avenue S.E., south of S.E. 256th Street
2. S.E. 240th Street, east of 104th Avenue S.E.
3. Central Avenue North, between Novak Lane and Woodford Avenue North
4. Central Ave North between Woodford Avenue North and East George Street
BUDGET IMPACT: The grant will fund the project. There is a required local match
for preliminary engineering/design and construction phases of approximately
$20,000.
