Firemen’s Relief & Pension Board Minutes January 19, 2016 Boardmembers present: Councilmember Dana Ralph, City Clerk Ronald Moore, Al Bond, and Sam Grubbs Others present: Finance Director Aaron BeMiller, Accounting and Reporting Manager Lavina Brennecke, and Senior Financial Analyst Suzanne Shaw Acting Chair Dana Ralph called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m. Changes to the Agenda. Finance Director Aaron BeMiller recommended revising item 7 to “Base Pay Change”. Additionally, Lavina Brennecke recommended striking item 5 and item 6 should say “4th Quarter 2015 Financial Transactions.” All revisions were adopted by consensus. Minutes of November 3, 2015. Sam Grubbs moved to approve the minutes of November 3, 2015, as written, seconded by Al Bond. Motion carried 4-0. 4th Quarter 2015 Financial Transactions. Brennecke communicated the 4th Quarter 2015 financial transactions and communicated that the makeup of the investments changed so the balance in the cash and checking has decreased. She highlighted where the investments were. She communicated that because there are longer term investments, the interest rates and the returns have been better. BeMiller communicated that in 2015 $3,000 was paid on an actuarial study and there were studies done in 2014 and 2012. He noted that this year the actuarial study will cost between $8,000 - $9,000. Brennecke added that next year will be a full actuarial study and should cost at least $8,300. She noted that one must be done based on new Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) rules. Sam Grubbs moved to approve the financial transactions for the months of October, November, and December 2015, seconded by Al Bond. Motion carried 4-0. Base Pay Change. Suzanne Shaw communicated that the 2016 Regional Fire Authority base salary increase was 1.1 percent based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Other Business. None. Adjournment.
