A. Spotlight Series
-Holiday performances – sales are strong

B. 17-18 booking update – staff is working on bookings and will communicate with
committee members as needed for input.

A. Centennial Gallery
-Nov/Dec: Betty Jo Costanzo NO
B. Kent Creates update/voting NO
Inaugural exhibit closes Nov. 30. Staff will be in touch with Commissioners
regarding voting.

C. Maintenance YES
-Chestnut Ridge weathervane (Peter Reiquam)
Neighbors have expressed interest in seeing stolen produce truck weathervane
replaced. Smith made a motion to authorize up to $8,000 ($3,000 from City Art
Maintenance fund and $5,000 from Risk Management fund) to replace, with the
stipulation that staff work with the artist on strategies to mitigate future theft.
Philpotts seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
-Railroad Yard mural (Mary Iverson)
Taskey made a motion to contract with the artist ($10,000) to repair and
restore the mural. Caravaglio seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
-Daily Migration (Cheryl dos Remedios)
Needs cleaning and significant maintenance, which will be costly given
challenges with location and materials. Staff will continue to explore options.
D. 2016 City Art Plan item: Morrill Meadows/YMCA NO
-Parks Planning and Development staff suggested we commission artist-
designed Parcourse elements for the site. The Commission liked the idea; staff
will work to develop a Call to Artists – likely for release in early 2017.
8. Community Arts Support Program NO Staff Billerbeck
Panel recommendations for 2017 funding:
-KidsQuest Children’s Museum – The Science of Art: $1,500
-Rainier Youth Choirs – Summer Choir Camp: $1,500
-Rainier Chorale – 2017 season shows: $1,500
-Kent Senior Center – Music and Art Showcase: $1,000
-Eunice Kim – Star-spangled print making: $750
-Kent Downtown Partnership – Third Thursday Art Night/Walk: $750
Machler made a motion to approved the recommendations of the panel. Taskey
seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
9. 2017 Officer Nominations No Chair Cox
Chair: Dan Cox, Vice Chair: Suzanne Smith, Treasurer: Sharona Chandra,
Recording Secretary: Linda Mackintosh, Corresponding Secretary: Tonya Goodwillie.
-The Commission will vote on the slate of officers in December.
