Spotlight Series Recent performances: -Al Stewart 3/18 – completely sold out with 468 tickets sold -Sister’s Easter Catechism 4/1 – audience of 237 2015-2016 season overview: Staff is working on preparing the season overview B. 2016-2017 Spotlight Series schedule YES Smith made a motion to approve the 2016-2017 Spotlight Series schedule with a total artistic fee budget not to exceed $75,000. C. 2016 Summer Concert Series promo NO Materials are currently being printed. Centennial Center Gallery April/May show: Ann Reid, Peter Boome, Jerry Gordon Reception – April 21 – low attendance B. Kent Summer Art Exhibit NO -Jury – April 26 Professional artist jurors Humaira Abid and Joseph Steininger reviewed more than 500 pieces, submitted by 63 artists (up from 200+ pieces, by 41 artists in 2015), and selected 57 pieces by 27 artists for display in the show. -Purchase Jury update: The purchase jury will meet at 4 p.m. on June 8. The group will be made up of the professional artist jurors (Abid and Steininger), Dana Ralph (City Council), Susan Machler (Arts Commission), and Tony Donati (city staff) -Opening reception – Wednesday, June 6, 6:30-8:00 p.m. (Reception will take the place of June meeting, Commissioners arrive at 6 p.m., in case there are meeting items.) C. Kent Creates update NO Empirical UX will present a demo on Tuesday, May 17 at 1 p.m. All Commissioners are invited. 8. Give Me Culture applications YES Chair Cox 5 -International Festival: Machler made a motion to fund the International Festival application at $600. Smith seconded and the motion carried unanimously. -M-Power Youth: Smith made a motion to fund M-Power Youth at $1,000. Machler seconded and the motion carried unanimously. -Iraqi Heritage Event: Taskey made a motion to fund the Iraqi Heritage Event at $400 to cover facility rental fees.
