Agenda:
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 2:35 p.m.
2. Roll Call
Four Commissioners are absent.
3. Changes to the Agenda
None
4. Approval of Minutes
Commissioner Heinisch MOVED to approve pending minutes from February 16,
2017, April 20, 2017, May 18, 2017, June 15, and September 21, 2017 and
Commissioner Hallerman SECONDED.
5. Community Engagement Coordinator (Uriel Varela)
Community Engagement Coordinator, Uriel Varela, introduced himself and spoke
candidly about his life leading up to his new role with the City. His background and

experience as an immigrant brings much needed perspective. Uriel will be working
to connected and reach out to the community.
6. Agency 3rd Quarter Reports (Staff)
Staff reported on agency performance so far. Agencies are on track to meet
contract requirements.
7. Improving Community Resource Access (Lori/Christine)
Staff is looking at resource publications, the City website and all other forms to
determine what is useful and what is still relevant. The goal is to improve access to
good information, better connect residents to services and create stronger
relationships with providers.
8. Updates
• 2018 application cycle closes April 12th, 2018 at 4:30pm. A workshop will
take place in March. May 17th will be a half day review and final
recommendations made in June.
• Wizehive was chosen to replace Share1
• Catholic Community Services received a grant from the Boeing Company for
the upcoming remodel and addition of a shower and laundry facility and are
currently working through bids.
• Wayfind, Living Well Kent and NAC are co-locating in an office at the Alliance
Center. Classes and workshops will be held onsite.
