1. Call to Order
Acting Chair Piecewicz called the meeting to order at 5:37 PM
2. Roll Call Commissioner Callius Zaratkiewicz had an arranged absence
3. Changes to the Agenda None
4. Approval of the Minutes
Commissioner Thomas made a motion to approve the minutes from the
regularly scheduled April 26, 2017 Civil Service Commission meeting.
Motion was seconded by Acting Chair Piecewicz; motion passed 2-0.
5. Consent Items to Accept
A. Letter dated April 21, 2017 from Chief Thomas to Alex Helms congratulating
him on being hired as a Probationary Lateral Police Officer effective May 16,
2017.
B. Memo and corresponding letter dated April 21, 2017 from Chief Thomas
accepting the retirement of Corrections Sergeant Dan Michael effective May 31,
2017.
C. Memo dated April 24, 2017 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that
A/C Rafael Padilla will be Acting Chief from April 24-27, 2017.
D. Memo dated April 24, 2017 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that
Ofr. Daniel Yagi’s transfer to Investigations will be postponed until August 6,
2017.
E. Letter dated April 28, 2017 from Chief Thomas congratulating Laine Farr on
being hired as the Probationary Parking Enforcement Assistant effective May 1,
2017.
F. Letters dated May 4, 2017 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Entry Level Police
Officer candidates Logan Black, Elliot Head, Anthony Hill, Joseph Horn,
Christopher Hubbard, Alexander Miller, Colton Netzer, Judah Torres, Joseph
Williamson, and Anthony Zayas notifying them that they have been removed

from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List for that position effective May 4,
2017.
G. Letter dated May 4, 2017 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Experienced/Lateral
candidate Joshua Haskell notifying him that his name has been removed from
the Continuous Testing Eligibility list for that position effective May 4, 2017.
H. Letter dated May 8, 2017 from Chief Thomas to Tessa Melville congratulating
her on being hired as a Probationary Police Recruit Officer effective June 1,
2017.
I. Letters dated May 8, 2017 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Experienced/Lateral
Police Officer candidates Sergei Andres, Chelsea Weir, and Christopher Wiens
notifying them that their names have been removed from the Continuous
Testing Eligibility list for that position effective May 8, 2017.
J. Letter dated May 9, 2017 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Entry Level Police
Officer candidate John Lee notifying him that his name has been removed from
the Continuous Testing Eligibility list for that position effective May 9, 2017.
K. Memo dated May 15, 2017 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that
Ofr. Dave Ghaderi will be Acting NRT Sergeant from May 16-19, 2017.
L. Letters dated May 16, 2017 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Entry Level Police
Officer candidates Sean Cole, Daniel Maben, Garret Richards, and Roman
Rossiytev notifying them that their names have been removed from the
Continuous Testing Eligibility list for that position effective May 16, 2017.
There being no discussion, Acting Chair Piecewicz made a motion to accept
consent items A-L. Commissioner Thomas seconded; motion passed 2-0.
6. Items to Approve
A. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for Lateral/Experienced Police Officer that was
established on March 23, 2017.
B. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for Lateral/Experienced Police Officer that was
established on April 6, 2017.
C. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for Lateral/Experienced Police Officer that was
established on April 28, 2017.
D. Eligibility list for the position of Records Specialist that was established on May
1, 2017.
E. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for Lateral/Experienced Police Officer that was
established on May 9, 2017.
F. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for Entry Level Police Officer that was
established on May 9, 2017.
G. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for Lateral/Experienced Police Officer that was
established on May 12, 2017.
Commissioner Thomas made a motion to approve into record items A-G.
Acting Chair Zaratkiewicz seconded the motion; motion passed 2-0.

9. Adjournment
Acting Chair Piecewicz made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Thomas seconded
the motion; motion passed 2-0. Meeting was adjourned at 5:41 PM.
