Spotlight Series NO -Recent shows: The Irish Rovers (sold out with 468 in attendance), International Guitar Night (93% capacity with 326), Seattle Rock Orchestra (78% capacity with 366) -Upcoming shows: Kahulanui 3/17, Kent-Meridian, Bayard DuBois will usher Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem, Kent-Meridian, still need ushers B. Summer Concert Series schedule YES M. Taskey made a motion to approve the 2017 Summer Concert Series schedule and line-up as presented by staff. DuBois seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Visual Arts/Acquisitions Committee Staff Billerbeck A. Pierce Family donation of Danny Pierce art work YES The Pierce Family children donated ten pieces – 8 paintings and 2 prints valued at a total of $36,550 – to the City of Kent Arts Commission. Smith made a motion to accept all ten Danny Pierce pieces into the portable art collection. Mackintosh seconded and the motion carried unanimously. B. Centennial Gallery -March 13-24: Student Art Walk NO Reception: Thursday, March 16, 5 – 7 p.m. -April/May: Chris Heard & Sonya Lang C. Kent Creates: Home (update) NO 16 submissions to the current exhibit D. 2017-2021 City Art Plan NO To Parks Committee March 16 9. General updates/other business Staff Billerbeck A. Give Me Culture Application – MVYSO YES Caravaglio made a motion to approve full funding ($1,000) for the Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra concert at Kentlake High School. DuBois seconded and the motion carried unanimously. B. Access for All (formerly Cultural Access Washington) – discussion C. Food trucks at Kent Summer Concert Series – M. Taskey brought up the idea of inviting a food truck or trucks to come to Lake Meridian for Thursday evening shows. Staff will pursue. D. Kent School District – Elementary School Visual Arts Plan – Caravaglio brought up discussions at the district level to formalize a plan for visual arts instruction at the elementary school level. The Commission discussed potential ways to be involved.
