Taskey made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Maloney seconded and the motion carried unanimously. 5. Treasurer’s Report NO Copy of March Month End was available for review. 6. Guest NO Barbara Luecke, Public Art Program Manager, SOUND TRANSIT A. Maintenance on artwork at Kent Sounder Station – Glass mosaics being refabricated, likely completion is summer 2017. B. Federal Way Link Extension – Kent Des Moines and Star Lake stations, Commission to consider potential art work locations and ideas at next meeting, STart staff will keep Commission updated as process moves forward. 7. Performing Arts Committee Staff Billerbeck A. Spotlight Series NO -Recent shows: 185 attended Kahulanui, 190 attended Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem. Kahulanui served 70 KM band students with educational outreach. Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem worked with 30 members of Rainier Youth Choir. -2016-2017 Season Summary – Successful season, comparable to last year, full report was available for review. B. 17-18 season YES DuBois made a motion to approve the schedule as presented. Philpotts seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Visual Arts/Acquisitions Committee Staff Billerbeck A. Pierce Family donation of Danny Pierce art work NO Currently hanging in Centennial Center 3rd floor hallway; staff will present the donation to City Council at the May 2 meeting. B. Centennial Gallery NO -April/May: Chris Heard & Sonya Lang C. Kent Creates: NO -Home update – Five winners notified -Next exhibit – Next exhibit will be “Farmers Market” theme D. Summer Art Exhibit NO -Jury meets April 27. -Purchase jury – June 7 (Gerard Philpotts will be KAC representative) -Opening reception is June 7, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Osborn Machler will sponsor . E. 2017-2021 City Art Plan NO -Project updates – Work continues on call for utility box project. 9. General updates/other business Staff Billerbeck A. Give Me Culture Applications YES -Kent International Festival – Caravaglio made a motion to approve full funding. Smith seconded and the motion carried unanimously. -Theatre Battery – M. Taskey made a motion to approve full funding. Philpotts seconded and the motion carried unanimously. B. Access for All update NO C. Kent School District – Visual Art Plan NO 10.
