Changes to the Agenda - none Staff Billerbeck 4. Guest(s): Kent Downtown Partnership NO Suzanne Cameron Dragonfly Project & Barbara Smith Suzanne Cameron and Barbara Smith presented the KDP’s proposal to install dragonfly sculptures on hanging basket holders throughout downtown. The project is entirely funded and organized by the KDP, which will obtain appropriate permits and permissions from the City. In an advisory capacity, KAC offered the following input: -KDP will be responsible for maintenance. -Commissioners asked about intended lifetime of sculptures and recommended that KDP think about how long they intend the sculptures to last. -KAC was glad to hear that the artist is considering secure attachments to avoid theft and ensure safety. -KAC expressed interest in including plaques or signage to tell the story behind the dragonflies. 5. December Minutes YES Vice Chair Smith Caravaglio made a motion to approve the minutes as written. M. Taskey seconded and the motion carried unanimously. 6. Treasurer’s Report NO Staff Billerbeck November Month End report was circulated. 7. Performing Arts Committee NO Staff Billerbeck A. Ushers: Smith + 1 B. 17-18 booking update -Billerbeck gave a brief update on the booking process. Summer Concerts are nearly booked. No new offers have gone out or been confirmed for Spotlight Series. Staff will keep Performing Arts Committee updated via email. C. “Living room” concerts – Consider Kent Lutheran Church as potential space 8. Visual Arts/Acquisitions Committee Staff Billerbeck A. Centennial Gallery -Jan/Feb: Mary Ann Cagley, Kari Westphal NO B. Kent Creates: Next Exhibit NO -Discussion around choosing a theme for the next exhibit; “Home” was selected. -Staff will plan to have next exhibit open in early February. -Suggestion for Visual Arts Committee to come up with the full year of themes. C. Maintenance updates NO -Contract with artist Peter Reiquam has been signed for replacement of Chestnut Ridge weathervane. D. 2017-2021 City Art Plan NO -Visual Arts Committee to meet in February, time/date TBD. 9.
