Call to Order Commission Chair Michaud called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Absent: Annie Sieger. 3. Changes to Agenda: No changes to agenda 4. Minutes dated June 26, 2018: Approved by unanimous Vote 5. Public Comment: None 6. Election of New Vice Chair Chair Zandria nominated Annie Sieger to Co-Chair, Annette Bailes seconded the nomination. Unanimous Vote for Annie Sieger. 7. Commission Project Reviewed handouts from Chair regarding Short Term Goals timeline and Budget Timeline Through September 25th 8. Decision on September Meeting The commission agreed to attend Mayors Budget Workshop instead of the regular September meeting. 9. High-Level Update on 2019-2020 Budget Development Handout from the Director, “Why Parks” powerpoint presentation to give talking points for the commissioners to utilize to promote Parks & Recreation and provide correct information when talking with citizens. P a g e | 2 Director Julie Parascondola provided the commission with the “Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services 15 Strategic and CAPRA Planning Processes” timeline Handout. She discussed the process involved with each item undertaken as well as updated the commission on the status of each, i.e., completed, currently undergoing and projects to begin 10. Update on Marketing & Outreach Plan Updated Commission regarding timeframes of the Market and Outreach Plan as well as five public engagement focus groups which will be, 1. All Parks commissions, 2. Parks and Recreation Commission 3. Diversity inclusion open house 4. Business Community and existing users 5. General Public random polling the community. 11. Director Update • YMCA/Morrill Meadows Park – on track for Fall 2019 Opening. Status update to council an update at next city council workshop. • Lake Meridian Restroom Building – previous contractor to do work to reopen by May 2019 • Riverbend Restaurant- Close to finalizing a contract • Russell Road and Van Doren update in another month or two • Hope Gibson resigned from PPD looking to fill the position as well as Sr. Planner position. • Kent Parks Foundation – Next Steps – dissolution of the foundation and shifting it to Kent Community Foundation. The long-term goal is to bring it back to Parks. • Demolition of the Ransom House, Lake House and Walla House at Clark Lake • Update on the Senior Center Funding 12.
