1. Call to Order/Roll Call:
Commission Chair Zandria Michaud called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
2. Changes to Agenda:
3. Minutes dated February 27, 2018: Approved
4. Prop A Information Update
Chief of Police Ken Thomas gives an overview and answers questions regarding
the purpose of Prop A, what it means for the citizens of Kent and why they
should vote yes.
5. Welcome Councilmember Fincher
Council Member Brenda Fincher discusses with the Commission her B&O vote
and answers questions regarding her vote not in favor of the presented B&O tax.
6. 2018 Commission Chair and Co-Chair Selection
The Commission unanimously voted Dan Barrett as new Chair and Zandria
Michaud as Co-Chair.
7. New Park and Recreation Commissioner
Introduction of Kathleen Roberts as the newest member of Commission.
8. Parks and Open Space Maintenance Management
Parks Operations Superintendent Garin Lee & Director Julie Parascondola update
the Commission on the management and maintenance of Parks open spaces as
presented to City Council on March 6. The Commission receives handouts of the
presentation.

9. Announcements
Update of properties purchased by Parks, and the RCO rules that govern the use
of funds purchased with it.
Update on the YMCA Project being over budget.
The next Budget Road Show meetings are April 21, 10 am at the Sunrise
Elementry and May 3, 7 pm at the Senior Center. Meetings are recorded.
Senior Park Planner position is still open. This is causing some of our projects to
be on hold.
Beginning in April, the makeup for the Commission is changing. The Commission
with consist of 12 commissioners and one “alternate.”
Green Kent position is now filled.
April meeting – Priority discussion on the budget.
Brian Levenhagen is researching how partner cities are utilizing commissions
and what is their decision making authority.
The City of Kent is surveying Open Space Development. Survey closes on the
March 31. Zandria will send out the link to the commissioners.
