Board members had questions about the cost of the cameras. Board members also
asked if all police officers would be provided with the body cameras. Assistant Chief
Hemmen explained that only a few officers would be equipped with the cameras at
first since this is a pilot project.
Assistant Chief Hemmen also shared with the group that the Police Department is
looking into incorporating dashcams to their vehicles. The dash cameras would
work with the body cameras as a unit. He also explained that the cameras turn on
automatically based on the range to other body cameras. The dashcams would also
turn on automatically if a weapon is removed from the police vehicle.
7. Marketing/Events/2019
The group also discussed what they hoped to accomplish for 2019. It was
mentioned that if the board was going to be more involved in community
engagement (i.e. cultural nights at local schools), they would need a table cloth and
a banner. The group requested that the city create a logo for the board and
purchase a table cloth and a banner. Uriel agreed to look into the cost.
