Call to Order Censar Rangel 6:30 p.m. 2. Roll Call Ta Kwe Say, Herbert Caret were absent. 3. Changes to the agenda None 4. Welcome Cesar welcomes the group as well as Assistant Chief Eric Hemmen. 5. Q13 video The Q13 video on the diversity of Kent is played on the computer for the board members to see. Both Marvin and Sara were interviewed for the video. 6. Police Department body cameras Assistant Chief Hemmen started the presentation to the group by showing the board members what the camera’s look like. He also shared the cellphone where you can see the recordings. He also shared examples of what the camera recordings look like and some examples of the cameras in use. Kent Cultural Communities Board Meeting October 23, 2018 Minutes Kent, Washington Board members had questions about the cost of the cameras. Board members also asked if all police officers would be provided with the body cameras. Assistant Chief Hemmen explained that only a few officers would be equipped with the cameras at first since this is a pilot project. Assistant Chief Hemmen also shared with the group that the Police Department is looking into incorporating dashcams to their vehicles. The dash cameras would work with the body cameras as a unit. He also explained that the cameras turn on automatically based on the range to other body cameras. The dashcams would also turn on automatically if a weapon is removed from the police vehicle. 7. Marketing/Events/2019 The group also discussed what they hoped to accomplish for 2019. It was mentioned that if the board was going to be more involved in community engagement (i.e. cultural nights at local schools), they would need a table cloth and a banner. The group requested that the city create a logo for the board and purchase a table cloth and a banner. Uriel agreed to look into the cost. 8.
