Adjournment Chair 1 min Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes Kent, Washington Approval Pending Date: April 23, 2019 Time: 6:00 p.m. Place: Centennial Bldg. Room 402 Attending: Chair Richard Minutoli, Vice-Chair Annie Sieger, Kathleen Roberts, Kristie Duggan, Randy Furukawa, Richard Minutoli, Scott Taylor, Todd Minor, Zandria Michaud, Deputy Director Brian Levenhagen Absent: Ed Keeley, Tim Wilson, Jennifer Ritchie 1. Call to Order/Roll Call: Commission Chair Michaud called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. 2. Changes to Agenda: Scott Taylor requested to add Interurban Trail. The discussion was opened up after Item 6. Commissioner Taylor brought up the entrance ramp of the trail to the road would be a detour in the development phase. Last week after the closure, he visited the detour and shared that the path is not as safe as it could be. Deputy Director requested an email from Commissioner Taylor to address with the developers regarding this issue. 3. Minutes dated March 26, 2019: Approved with minor changes 4. Public Comment: None 5. Operations – Natural Areas Operations Superintendent Garin Lee shared a PowerPoint presentation regarding Parks Operations Natural Area Management, level of service, protocols, and processes. Copies of the presentation will be sent out to Commission Members. The Superintendent opened the floor to questions. 6. King County Parks Levy Update Deputy Director Levenhagen shared a PowerPoint outlining the 2020-2025 King County Parks Levy. Copies of the presentation will be sent out to Commission Members. The Deputy Director opened up the floor to questions. 7. Marketing Plan Update Deputy Director Levenhagen presented a PowerPoint presentation outlining the Marketing Plan and shared statistics from the survey. Parks new Marketing and Engagement Coordinator Haleigh Elliott was introduced to the Commission. Page | 2 Haleigh provided a hand out regarding the approach to Kent’s PRC 2019 Re- Brand process. 8. Recreation Plan Update Deputy Director discussed MyKentRecreationPlan.com site survey and the timeline concerning the Recreation program planning. Haleigh to provide content for Commission to send out on Social Media to increase participation in the survey. 9. Human Services Master Plan and CDBG Consolidated Plan Updates Deputy Director provided handouts of the Consolidated Plan Timeline. 10. Director Updates/Commission Updates Provided Guidelines for the commission regarding local government election campaigning. Commission wanted further guideline interpretation based on past activities as to what they are and are not allowed to do. 11.
