Room 402 Attending: Chair Zandria Michaud, Vice-Chair Annie Sieger, Jennifer Ritchie, Kathleen Roberts, Kristie Duggan, Randy Furukawa, Richard Minutoli, Tim Wilson, Todd Minor, Director Julie Parascondola Absent: Annette Bailes, Ed Keeley, Scott Taylor, 1. Call to Order/Roll Call: Commission Chair Michaud called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. 2. Changes to Agenda: None 3. Minutes dated November 27, 2018: Approved with minor changes 4. Public Comment: None 5. Change of By-Laws – Election Terms Commission took a vote on amending the By-Laws. Revision of By-Laws was voted down 6 to 3 6. 2019 Commission Chair & Vice-Chair Selection Commission voted Rich Minutoli as new Chair 6 to 3 and Annie Saurwein Voted as Vice-Chair 5 to 4. 7. Commission Purpose & Projects Director Parascondola discussed with the Commission, roles, and purpose of the Commission. Projects and work plans based on previous input from the Commission are placed into three categories. a. Continue to focus on advocacy for funding support for Parks b. Advancing racial and social equity with community engagement and relations c. Planning initiatives. Page | 2 8. Future Strategic Direction of Parks & Recreation Directors Parascondola presented the Strategic Framework for Parks & Recreation in a PowerPoint presentation that the secretary will email out to the commission. The commission is planning to mobilize to engage the public about /and candidates running for election to City Council. Director Parascondola will reach out to Legal to find out what is permissible in advocacy for Parks. 9. Riverbend Golf Complex Update Director Parscondola shared updates regarding the Riverbend Golf Complex in a powerpoint presentation that the secretary will email out to the commission. Half Lion Brewery will have its formal opening on June 10th at Riverbend Golf Complex which is also its 30 Anniversary. 10. Director Updates • King County Parks Levy Updated on funding • King County Flood Control District is taking Public comment for the Lower Green River Corridor Flood Hazard Management Programmatic Environmental Impact Study – email to the commission will be sent out that links to the survey • The commission will be served food at the meetings. 11.
