scope of work well beyond expectations. Unduplicated by program, 89,405 Kent
residents were served by 45 programs funded by General Fund dollars. CDBG funded
eight programs that served 435 unduplicated residents. Kent Home Repair served a
total of 120 unduplicated households.
8. Updates (Merina Hanson)
• The Severe Weather Shelter was in operation for 11 days during February.
Staff, volunteers and providers have debriefed and are exploring
improvements and changes to the policies and procedures. An average of 65
people were seen each night and as many as 95 when the HOME men’s shelter
was not accessible because of impassible roads. Staff will be working with
neighboring jurisdictions on how to better serve our homeless residents and
coming up with backup plans to support volunteers and service providers.
Notification of the shelter activation is now trough a system called eConnect,
reaching a broad audience and giving subscription control the recipient.
eConnect is a new notification system for City new, resources and events
available on the City of Kent website.
