Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 3:08 p.m. 2. Roll Call Rickie Robinson, Co-Chair Gina Bellisario, Commissioner Selamavit Demssie, Commissioner Mike Heinisch, Commissioner Connie Stolpp, Commissioner Merina Hanson, Human Services Manager Dinah Wilson, CDBG Coordinator Lori Guilfoyle, Coordinator Christine Cain, Coordinator Absent: Zenovia Harris, Chair Dennis Higgins, Council Member Bill Hallerman, Commissioner Sara Roach, Commissioner Vacant, Commissioner Alternate Vacant, Student Commissioner 3. Changes to the Agenda There are no changes to the agenda. 4. Approval of August 15, 2019 Minutes Commissioner Robinson motioned to approve the minute from the August 15, 2019. Commissioner Bellisario MOVED to approve the minutes, and Commissioner Stolpp SECONDED the motion. Motion passed unanimously by a vote of 5-0. 5. Public Comment Public comment was provided by Timothy J. Petersen. 6. Public Health - Presentation Brad Finegood, MA, LMHC and Dr. Mia Shim, MD, MHP presented current data on the opioid epidemic, it’s impact, prevention strategies, and treatment options. Kent Human Services Commission Meeting September 19, 2019 Minutes Kent, Washington Approved Based on the current data and trends, opiate/non-opiate use and overdoses are increasing. Specifically, there are significant increases in methamphetamine and fentanyl related overdoses and death. Announcements • A draft vision, priorities and goals for the new Human Services Strategic Plan was shared with the Commission. The four draft priorities generated following extensive community engagement and input are; • A Good Start, • Aging Well, • Individual and Community Wellbeing; and • Homelessness. • Additional feedback from residents and providers will be sought as work continues on finalizing the Strategic Plan. • An update was given to Council at Council Workshop on the progress of the Strategic Plan development, current funding levels, funding compared to our counterparts in King County, and current staffing levels. 8.
