Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 4 p.m., with Greg Haffner presiding. 2. Roll Call Carmen Goers – Present Lew Sellers – Absent Randall Smith - Present Jeff Piecewicz – Present Greg Haffner - Present 3. Changes to the Agenda Carmen Goers moved to approve the agenda as presented, seconded by Randall Smith. Motion passed unanimously with a vote of 4-0. 4. Approval of Minutes dated July 25, 2019 Smith moved to approve the minutes dated July 25, 2019, seconded by Goers. The Motion passed unanimously with a vote of 4-0. 5. Reappointment of Carmen Goers to the Public Facilities District Board Assistant City Attorney, Adam Long discussed the procedural process to reappoint Goers to the board and advised the Council will confirm the reappointment on November 19, 2019. 6. Financial Reports A. City of Kent. No report was presented. Kim Komoto will obtain the report from Finance Director, Paula Painter and will email it to the board. B. accesso ShoWare Center. Arletta Voter provided details of the accesso ShoWare Center Income Statement Third Quarter 2019, including direct event income, ancillary income, other event income, other operating income, indirect expenses, net income from operations, admission tax and net income. The board discussed the budgeting of 1/12th per month and possibly changing the method to Public Facilities District Board Regular Meeting October 31, 2019 Minutes Kent, Washington Pending Approval Page 2 of 2 more accurately reflect income and expenses. Voter advised they currently use the corporate budgeting tools and she will look into adjusting the budget format. 7. Operations Update a. General Manager Update. Higgins advised the accesso ShoWare Center is driving over 400,000 people to the core of downtown Kent. New carpeting, tables and chairs were recently purchased, and the concession rebranding will take place in 2020. Higgins provided details on the need to pay a higher hourly rate for changeover labor. Higgins advised SMG recently merged with AEG and the new management is ASM. b. Marketing Update. Spreitzer provided a detailed marketing update and reviewed statistics for the website, social media and email marketing. Spreitzer advised of the new tagline “Access the Moment.” c. City of Kent Update. No update was provided. 8. Seattle Thunderbirds Update Thunderbirds General Manager, Colin Campbell provided an update on the current season including wins and losses. Information was provided regarding season ticket sales, suite sales and corporate partnerships. Campbell announced Chick-fil-A and Papa Johns are new corporate partners. Half Lion Brewing purchased a suite and is going to promote the Thunderbirds on TV and by naming a sandwich after the team. Campbell noted the promotions to grow hockey in the Pacific Northwest by NHL Seattle and how the team benefits. The Thunderbirds are working with the Kent Valley Hockey Association on a Bantam tournament in February of 2020. 9. Other Business 10.
