Room 402 Attending: Chair Richard Minutoli, Vice-Chair Annie Sieger, Bonnie Williams, Caitlin Hepworth, Kristie Duggan, Randy Furukawa, Scott Taylor, Todd Minor, Director Julie Parascondola, Deputy Director Brian Levenhagen Absent: Riham Hashi, Jennifer Ritchie, Tim Wilson, Jeremy Jasman 1. Call to Order/Roll Call: Commission Chair Minutoli called the meeting to order at 6:13 p.m. 2. Changes to Agenda: Added new item listed as number four by Vice-Chair Annie Sieger 3. Approve Minutes dated December 11, 2019: Approved with friendly change 4. Kent Transportation Master Plan Update: Vice-Chair Annie Sieger sits on the Kent Transportation Advisory Board. She provided a brief high-level update regarding the Kent Transportation Master Plan and passed around the proposed transportation network questionnaire assignment given to her from the Advisory Board. She requested input to the questions from the commissioners to submit back to the Kent Transportation Advisory Board. The questionnaire will be emailed to the commissioners with a deadline to respond by January 26. 5. Welcome Mayor Dana Ralph: Check-in with the Commission. The Mayor requested feedback from the commission on how she and the commission can work collectively together for parks and the city. Q&A regarding the role of the commission occurred. No actions or decisions made. 6. Welcome New Commissioner Caitlin Hepworth: Chair Minutoli welcomed Caitlin Hepworth as the newest Parks Commissioner and asked her to introduce herself to the commission. No actions or decisions made. 7. Update to Chapter 3.12 of the Kent City Code – Surplus of Real Property: Director Parascondola passed out to the Commissioners the proposed update to Chapter 3.12 of the Kent City Code and discussed the process regarding the surplus of real property. Q&A occurred. Feedback was requested from the commission to forward onto City Council for consideration regarding the surplus of real property. The code is going to Committee of the Whole on January 28, then to City Council on Feb 4. Feedback from the Commission was requested by January 27. Discussion regarding suggestions at the meeting included increasing Page | 2 the service radius of notification of surplus property and what forms of notification to citizens are employed. 8. Welcome Randy Brinson, Third Sector Company – Commission Purpose and Work Planning: Mr. Brinson proposed a process of articulating a purpose statement as to what the commission exists to do. Based on the Mayors ask listed in agenda item 5, Mr. Brinson also suggested working on a proposal to present to the Mayor regarding how the Commission and City can work better together. Advance work will be assigned and sent out to the commissioners to complete and be prepared to discuss at the February meeting. 9. Director/Commission Updates: City Council Retreat is Feb 7 and 8, and Director Parascondola will send out the Agenda to the commissioners. An update of the retreat will be scheduled for February’s meeting. 10.
