There was some discussion on what Transportation Impact Fees are and how
they are calculated. The issue of safety on the trail system was brought up
and a brief discussion followed with the understanding that the Police have to
be a partner in this. Restroom facilities were also discussed with the
understanding that accessibility for Public Works would be a big factor in
where those facilities can be located.

Kent, WA 98032
253-856-5454
DATE: February 10, 2020
TO: Land Use and Planning Board
FROM: ECD
SUBJECT: Rally the Valley
SUMMARY: Rally the Valley is a long-range subarea plan for Kent’s industrial
valley. It contains land use and policy recommendations focused on ensuring the
industrial valley is economically diverse and not hyperspecialized in any one
industry, and investing in people and the quality of their experience so that the
valley is competitive, and its businesses can attract and retain a highly skilled
workforce.
With support from external stakeholders, an advisory panel, and technical
consultants, staff has completed a draft plan document, which outlines a vision,
goals, and strategies for Kent’s industrial valley. Also presented are proposed
amendments to zoning and development regulations.
Staff will be available at the February 10 meeting to present the draft plan and to
receive feedback and answer questions from Land Use and Planning Board
members. Drafts of the plan and code amendments are available at
https://www.kentwa.gov/doing-business/long-range-planning/rally-the-valley.
