Regularly Scheduled Meeting
November 18, 2015
5:30 p.m.
Item Description
1. The Meeting of the Civil Service Commission was called to order at 5:32
p.m. by Chair Zaratkiewicz.
2. Commissioners present: C. Zaratkiewicz, P. Thomas, and J. Piecewicz
3. There were no changes to the agenda.
4. Commissioner Piecewicz moved to approve the minutes, dated October
28, 2015, seconded by Commissioner Thomas. Motion carried 3-0.
5. Consent Items to Accept:
Chair Zaratkiewicz moved to accept Items A through J, seconded by
Commissioner Thomas. Motion carried 3-0.
A. Memo dated October 22, 2015 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that
Ofr. Autumn Majack has been placed on Paid Administrative Leave effective
October, 22, 2015.
B. Memo dated October 23, 2015 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that
A/C Rafael Padilla will be assigned as Acting Chief from October 24-28, 2015.
C. Memo dated October 26, 2015 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that
Ofr. Kevin Bateman will be assigned as Acting Sergeant effective October 26-30,
2015.
D. Memo dated October 26, 2015 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that
Ofr. Tyler Birkhofer will be assigned as Acting Sergeant from October 26-
November 6, 2015.
E. Memo dated October 27, 2015 from A/C Rafael Padilla notifying the Commission
that Ofr. Justin Davis will be assigned as an assistant Recruiting Officer from
November 1- July 31, 2016.
F. Memo dated October 27, 2015 from A/C Rafael Padilla notifying the Commission
that Ofr. Diego Moreno will be assigned as an assistant Recruiting Officer from
November 1- February 29, 2016 (approximately).
G. Memo dated October 28, 2015 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that
Ofr. Jason Bishop will be assigned as the Rotating Detective effective February 7,
2016 through August 6, 2016.
H. Memo dated November 9, 2015 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission
that Corrections Sergeant Michael Armstrong will be assigned as the Acting
Commander from November 16-19, 2015.
I. Letters dated November 10, 2015 from Chief Examiner Winecka to applicants
Joel Anderson and Gregory Harrell notifying them that their names have been
removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List for the position of
Lateral/Experienced Police Officer effective November 10, 2015.
J. Letters dated November 10, 2015 from Chief Examiner Winecka to applicants
Justin Bates, Randy Kraus, and Scott Scranton notifying them that their names
have been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List for the position of
Entry Level Police Officer effective November 10, 2015.
6. Consent Items to Approve:
There being no discussion, Commissioner Thomas moved to approve
Items A through C, seconded by Commissioner Thomas. Motion carried
3-0.
A. Eligibility list for Records Supervisor that was established on October 26, 2015.
B. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for the position of Lateral/Experienced
Corrections Officer that was established on November 3, 2015.
C. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for the position of Entry Level Corrections
Officer that was established on November 3, 2015.
7. Action Items:
There were no action items to discuss.
8. For the good of the order
There was nothing further to come before the Commission.
9. Adjournment
Commissioner Piecewicz made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Commissioner
Thomas. Motion carried 3-0. The meeting adjourned at 5:36 PM.
