Regularly Scheduled Meeting
October 28, 2015
5:30 p.m.
Item Description
1. The Meeting of the Civil Service Commission was called to order at
5:36 p.m. by Acting Chair Jeff Piecewicz.
2. Commissioners present: C. Zaratkiewicz, P. Thomas, and J.
Piecewicz
3. There were no changes to the agenda.
4. Commissioner Thomas moved to approve the minutes, dated
September 23, 2015, seconded by Commissioner Piecewicz. Motion
carried 3-0.
5. Consent Items to Accept:
Chair Zaratkiewicz moved to accept Items A through I, seconded by
Commissioner Piecewicz. Motion carried 3-0.
A. Memo dated September 28, 2015 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission
that Sgt. Michael Armstrong will be assigned as Acting Corrections Commander
from October 5-9, 2015.
B. Memo dated October 2, 2015 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that
A/C Jon Straus will be assigned as Acting Chief from October 3- 11, 2015.
C. Letters dated October 12, 2015 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Record
Specialist candidates Diana Wong, Candice Cameron, and Anna Falcon notifying
them that their names have been removed from the Record Specialist eligibility
list, per their request, effective October 12, 2015.
D. Letter dated October 12, 2015 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Patrick Rainer
notifying him that his name was removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility
list Lateral/Experienced Police Officer eligibility list, per his request, effective
October 12, 2015.
E. Letter dated October 12, 2015 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Matthew Cox
notifying him that his name was removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility
List for Entry Level Corrections Officer effective October 12, 2015.
F. Letters dated October 12, 2015, from Chief Examiner Winecka to Nathaniel
Obregon, Trevor Wolff, John Lee, and Alexander Wyatt notifying them that their
names have been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List for the
position of Entry Level Police Officer effective October 12, 2015.
G. Memo dated October 13, 2015 from A/C Jon Straus notifying the Commission
that Ofr. Ian Warmington will be assigned as Provisional Sergeant beginning
October 27, 2015 and his assignment will not last more than four months.
H. Letter dated October 16, 2015 from Chief Thomas to Ofr. Samuel Steiner
notifying him that he successfully passed the probationary period and is
appointed to regular employment status effective October 16, 2015.
I. Memo and corresponding letter dated October 20, 2015 announcing the
promotion of Matthew Armstrong to Corrections Sergeant effective November 1,
2015.
6. Consent Items to Approve:
Chair Zaratkiewicz moved to approve Items A through F, seconded by
Commissioner Thomas. Motion carried 3-0.
A. Eligibility list for Transitional Police Officer that was established on September
23, 2015.
B. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for the position of Lateral/Experienced Police
Officer that was established on September 23, 2015.
C. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for the position of Entry Level Police Officer that
was established on September 23, 2015.
D. Eligibility list for the rank of Corrections Sergeant that was established on
October 8, 2015.
E. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for the position of Lateral/Experienced Police
Officer that was established on October 14, 2015.
F. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for the position of Entry Level Police Officer that
was established on October 14, 2015.
7. Action Items:
There being no discussion, Commissioner Thomas made a motion to
change the November and December meetings to November 18th and
December 16th, seconded by Commissioner Piecewicz. Motion carried 3-
0.
A. Request to change the meeting date for the November and December meetings.
8. For the good of the order
There was nothing further to come before the Commission.
9. Adjournment
Commissioner Piecewicz made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Commissioner
Thomas. Motion carried 3-0. The meeting adjourned at 5:40 PM.
