HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Committees - Civil Service Commission - 11/19/20141 CITY OF KENT- CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES The City of Kent Civil Service Commission met on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at 5:30 p.m. in Chambers West for the regular meeting. The following information was discussed: Members Present: Callius Zaratkiewicz- absent Pauline Thomas Jeff Piecewicz Others Present: Assistant Chief Rafael Padilla, others present. Acting Chair Piecewicz asked those present to review the ‘Accept Into Record’ items 1-9 under New Business. He then called the meeting to order at 5:32 p.m. after giving the audience time to review said items. I. COMMISSION BUSINESS: II. HEARING: III. OLD BUSINESS: A. Accept Into Record 1. Approval of the Minutes from the October 22, 2014 Civil Service Commission meeting. Commissioner Thomas made a motion to accept into record the minutes from the October 22, 2014 Civil Service Commission meeting. Motion was moved and seconded; motion passed. IV. NEW BUSINESS: A. Accept into Record 1. Letter dated October 17, 2014 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Corrections Officer candidate Christopher Fayant notifying him that his name has been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List for Entry Level Corrections Officer effective October 17, 2014 per his request to withdraw from the testing process. 2. Letter dated October 17, 2014 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Corrections Officer candidate Jacob Thielman notifying him that his name has been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List for Entry Level Corrections Officer effective October 17, 2014. 3. Letter dated November 6, 2014 from Chief Thomas to Debra Douglas congratulating her on being hired as a Probationary Police Records Specialist effective November 17, 2014. 4. Letters dated November 10, 2014 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Lateral Police Officer applicants Lee Price and Owen Goethie notifying them that Civil Service Commission Minutes November 19, 2014 2 their names have been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List for Lateral/Experienced Police Officer effective November 10, 2014. 5. Letters dated November 10, 2014 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Entry Level Police Officer candidates Fernando Cordova and Joshua Hwang notifying them that their names have been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List for Entry Level Police Officer effective November 10, 2014 per their requests to withdraw from the testing process. 6. Letters dated November 10, 2014 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Entry Level Police Officer applicants Gregory Baker, Anthony Frandanisa, Brady Galloway, and Shane Schoeneberg notifying them that their names have been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List for Entry Level Police Officer effective November 10, 2014. 7. Memo dated November 13, 2014 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that Assistant Chief Rafael Padilla will be assigned as Acting Chief November 17-21 as well as November 24-26, 2014. 8. Memo dated November 13, 2014 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that Cmdr. Church will be assigned as Acting Assistant Chief November 14-23, 2014. 9. Memo dated November 13, 2014 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that Sgt. Mike Armstrong will be assigned as Acting Commander November 11-15, 2014 and that Sgt. Virginia Griesbach will be assigned as Acting Commander November 16-21, 2014. There being no questions, Acting Chair Piecewicz made a motion to accept into record items one through nine. Motion was moved and seconded; motion passed. B. Approve into Record: 1. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for the position of Entry Level Police Officer that was established on November 10, 2014. 2. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for the position of Lateral/ Experienced Police Officer that was established on November 10, 2014. Acting Chair Piecewicz made a motion to approve into record items one and two. Motion was moved and seconded; motion passed. C. Action Items for Discussion: There were no action items for discussion. Civil Service Commission Minutes November 19, 2014 3 There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made. Motion was moved and seconded and the meeting adjourned at 5:35 PM. The next meeting of the Civil Service Commission will take place on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.
