CITY OF KENT- CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
The City of Kent Civil Service Commission met on Wednesday, February 26, 2014,
at 5:30 p.m. in Chambers West for the regular meeting. The following information
was discussed:
Members Present: Callius Zaratkiewicz
Pauline Thomas
Others Present: A/C Rafael Padilla, Deanna Gratzer, others present
Chair Zaratkiewicz asked those present to review the ‘Accept Into Record’ items 1-6
under New Business. He then called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. after giving
the audience time to review said items.

A. Accept Into Record
1. Approval of the Minutes from the January 22, 2014 Civil Service
Commission meeting.
Commissioner Thomas made a motion to accept into record the minutes from the
January 22, 2014 Civil Service Commission meeting. Motion was moved and
seconded; motion passed.
IV. NEW BUSINESS:
A. Accept into Record
1. Letter of reprimand dated January 3, 2014 from Cmdr. Ohlde to Officer Adam
Rogers.
2. Letter dated January 13, 2014 from Chief Thomas to Anthony Gambino
congratulating him on being hired as a Probationary Lateral Police Officer
effective February 18, 2014.
3. Memo dated January 15, 2014 from A/C Rafael Padilla to Officer Jasmyne
Walton notifying her that her probationary period is being extended.
4. Letters dated January 23, 2014 from Chief Thomas to Bezzell Lee and
Andrehas Rodriguez-Johnston congratulating them on being hired as
Probationary Corrections Officers effective February 3, 2014.
5. Letters dated January 27, 2014 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Entry Level
Police Officer candidates Kaitlyn Spore and Steven Cox notifying them that
their names were removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility list per their
request effective January 27, 2014.
6. Letter dated January 27, 2014 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Michelle
Griesheimer notifying her that her name was removed from the Continuous

Testing Eligibility list for the position of Experienced/ Lateral Police Officer
effective January 27, 2014.
There being no questions or discussion, Chair Zaratkiewicz made a motion to accept
into record items one thru six. Motion was moved and seconded; motion passed.
B. Approve into Record:
1. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for the position of Lateral/Experienced Police
Officer that was established on January 27, 2014.
2. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for the position of Entry Level Police Officer
that was established on January 27, 2014.
There being no questions or discussion, Chair Zaratkiewicz made a motion to
approve into record items one and two. Motion was moved and seconded; motion
passed.
C. Action Items for Discussion:
There were no action items for discussion.
Chair Zaratkiewicz then asked if there was any further business to come before the
Commission. There being no further business, Chair Zaratkiewicz made a motion to
adjourn. Motion was moved and seconded and the meeting adjourned at 5:39 PM.
The next meeting of the Civil Service Commission will take place on Wednesday,
March 26, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.
