Darin Majack Y OfKant RE: Letter of Reprimand Re: Tardiness for work Officer Rodgers, Throughout your career you have had difficulties reporting to work on time when assigned to Dayshift. Just prior to this last rotation you were still having difficulties getting to work on time. Sgt. Majack actually spoke with you about it during this last rotation. He advised you that you must arrive at work in a timely manner. You were further advised that it would not be acceptable to continue being just a couple minutes late from time to time. All officers are expected to be in uniform and ready to go at 5 minutes after the.shift starts. During that conversation, you stated that you understood the expectations. This conversation occurred this late summer, early in August on rotation weekend. On August 8`h of 2013, you again did not show up to work as scheduled. Sgt. Majack called you and he learned that you were still asleep and had apparently slept through the alarm clock. Since this was not an isolated incident, it was documented on a developmental counseling form which was signed by you. On August 12`I' 2013, you were again 45 minutes late for work. On this occasion you stated to Sgt. Majack that you had failed to reset the alarm clock. It is encouraging that you had no tardiness issues in September, October and November, but the problem is now happening again. On December 3`d, you were late for work again. This time you were late 3.75 hours. You called in and advised that you had a defective car battery and could not find anyone to jump you due to the early hour. Later you learned that apparently the battery had a bad connection and ultimately you did get the vehicle to start so you could get to work. Again on January 3`d, you were about 20 minutes late. It was due to a bad battery. You had stopped at a store on your way to work and your vehicle again failed to start. Luckily, you were able to find someone that gave you a jump so you were not stranded. www.ci.kent.wa.us/police City of Kent Police Department— Nationally Accredited i POLICE ADMINISTRATION Kenneth E. Unexcused Tardiness by'you is unacceptable and will no longer be tolerated..If you have any more incidents where you are late for work, it may result in further discipline to include termination. At a minimum, my immediate recommendation will be that you be assigned to a later shift to better facilitate you being able to report to work on time. Sincerely, Commander S. .
