The Meeting of the Civil Service Commission was called to order at 5:36 p.m. by Chair Zaratkiewicz. 2. Commissioners present: C. Zaratkiewicz, J. Piecewicz 3. There were no changes to the agenda. 4. Commissioner Piecewicz moved to approve the minutes, dated February 24, 2016, seconded by Chair Zaratkiewicz. Motion carried 2-0. 5. Consent Items to Accept: Chair Zaratkiewicz moved to accept Items A through P, seconded by Commissioner Piecewicz. Motion carried 2-0. A. Memo dated February 18, 2016 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that Sgt. Andy Kelso will be assigned as the NRT Sergeant effective March 1, 2016. B. Memo dated February 18, 2016 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that Ofr. Andrew Grove is promoted to the rank of Sergeant effective March 1, 2016. C. Letter dated February 19, 2016 from A/C Jon Straus notifying the Chief of his retirement effective March 31, 2016. D. Memo dated February 22, 2016 from Chief Thomas accepting the retirement of A/C Straus effective March 31, 2016. E. Letter dated February 25, 2016 from Chief Thomas to Stephen White congratulating him on being hired as a Probationary Police Recruit Officer effective March 16, 2016. F. Letter dated March 1, 2016 from Chief Thomas to Ashley Orlowski congratulating her on her new position as Probationary Evidence Custodian effective March 1, 2016. G. Letters dated March 2, 2016 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Albert Kim, Brett Nunez, Randy Roberts, Evan Jones, and Eilidh Voris notifying them that their names have been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List for the position of Entry Level Police Officer effective March 2, 2016. H. Letter dated March 3, 2016 from Chief Thomas to Michael Anderson congratulating him on being hired as a Probationary Lateral Corrections Officer effective March 16, 2016. I. Memo dated March 7, 2016 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that Cmdr. Jarod Kasner will be assigned as Acting Assistant Chief from March 7-11, 2016. J. Letter dated March 8, 2016 from Chief Thomas to Jonathan Thompson congratulating him on being promoted to the rank of Commander effective April 1, 2016. K. Letter dated March 8, 2016 from Chief Thomas to Matthew Holmes congratulating him on being promoted to the rank of Commander effective April 1, 2016. L. Letter dated March 8, 2016 from Chief Thomas to Matthew Stansfield congratulating him on being promoted to the rank of Sergeant effective April 1, 2016. M. Letter dated March 8, 2016 from Chief Thomas to Jason Bishop congratulating him on being promoted to the rank of Sergeant effective April 1, 2016. N. Memo dated March 8, 2016 from Chief Thomas outlining the various assignment changes that will go into effect on April 1, 2016. O. Memo dated March 12, 2016 from Chief Thomas notifying the Commission that Jennifer Lindstrom has satisfactorily completed probation and has gained regular employment status as Police Officer. P. Letter dated March 14, 2016 from Chief Examiner Winecka to Michael Yelle notifying him that his name has been removed from the Continuous Testing Eligibility List for the position of Entry Level Police Officer effective March 14, 2016. 6. Consent Items to Approve: Chair Zaratkiewicz moved to approve Items A through C, seconded by Commissioner Piecewicz. Motion carried 2-0. A. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for the position of Lateral/Experienced Corrections Officer that was established on February 24, 2016. B. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for the position of Entry Level Corrections Officer that was established on February 29, 2016. C. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for the position of Entry Level Police Officer that was established on March 14, 2016. 7. Action Items: There being no questions, Chair Zaratkiewicz made the following motion: I make a motion to give permission to test for the position of Records Specialist with the weights as listed. Commissioner Piecewicz seconded the motion. Motion carried 2-0. A. Memo dated March 16, 2016 from Chief Thomas requesting permission to test for the position of Records Specialist. The position will be opened in-house first and, if there is an insufficient number of applications received, the position will open externally with restrictions as set forth below. The department requests that the following testing process and weights be applied: a. Written Exam: 30% (70% passing score required) b. Typing Test: Pass/Fail The department requests that the top 20 applicants from the written exam and typing test move on to the oral board process. c. Oral Board: 70% (70% passing score required) d. Background: Pass/Fail e. Polygraph: Pass/Fail 8. For the good of the order There was nothing further to come before the Commission. 9. Adjournment Commissioner Piecewicz made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Chair Zaratkiewicz. Motion carried 2-0. The meeting adjourned at 5:41 PM.
