Dear Sergeant Barbour,
Please accept this letter as notification of my resignation from my position as a
Probationary Police Officer with the Kent Police Department. I am returning to
school to continue my education.
While it was difficult to come to this decision, I believe that I need to step back
from police work, at least during this period of my life, to reevaluate my
professional goals and work to improve my skills through further education.
I cannot fully express my gratitude to you, and the rest of the department, for
giving me the opportunity to work alongside some of the finest members of law
enforcement. I truly appreciate that Kent Police Department offered me the
chance to pursue my goal of becoming a police officer, and I appreciate the
patience and wisdom extended to me during this learning process.
My admiration for law enforcement has grown during my employment at your
department; KPD is an outstanding agency and I am thankful to have been a part
of it. I welcome anyone from the agency contacting me with any questions after
my departure at gregcoxl989@yahoo.com or 760-650-5954.
