Officer that was established on April 26, 2016.
B. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for the position of Entry Level Police Officer that
was established on May 2, 2016.
C. Continuous Testing Eligibility list for the position of Entry Level Corrections
Officer that was established on May 9, 2016.
D. Reinstatement list for Police Officer that was established on April 19, 2016.
7. Action Items:
A. Memo dated May 16, 2016 from Chief Thomas requesting permission to test for
the position of Administrative Assistant I. The position will be opened in-house
first and, if there is an insufficient number of applications received, the position
will open externally with restrictions as set forth below. The department
requests that the following testing process and weights be applied:
a. Written Exam: 30% (70% passing score required)
b. Computer Skills: Pass/Fail
The department requests that the top 20 applicants from the written exam and
computer skills assessments move on to the oral board process.
c. Oral Board: 70% (70% passing score required)
d. Background: Pass/Fail
e. Polygraph: Pass/Fail

Congratulations on being hired as a Probationary Police Recruit Officer for the Kent Police

great deal to offer the Department and the City of Kent.
This letter Is to confirm our recent offer of employment. Your employment with the City
will be effective Monday, July 18, 2016. Upon receipt of this letter, please call Training
Sergeant Bill Blowers at (253) 856-5858 for details on your duty assignment. Also, you
have been scheduled for a new employee orientation on Monday, July 18, at 10:00 AM
with the benefits staff in Human Resources. Please report at 9:00 AM to the Multimedia
department on the 2n°floor of City Hall to have your city access card photo taken prior to
your new employee orientation.
Your starting base salary will be at Recruit Step A, at$5,150.00 per month. You will be
eligible for a step increase on the first of the month following graduation from the Basic
Law Enforcement Academy. You will be placed on probationary status for 12 months
following successful completion of the Basic Law Enforcement Academy. All other benefits
will follow your union contract.
If the terms of this offer of employment are acceptable to you, please so indicate by
signing on the acceptance line and returning one executed original to Recruiting Officer
Wayne Graff at the address listed above.

I am requesting authorization to test for the position of Administrative
Assistant I.
If authorized, the hiring process will consist of a written exam, computer
skills test (Excel/Outlook), background and polygraph. The following
weights would be applied:
Written: 30% (Score of 70% to pass)
Oral Board: 70% (Score of 70% to pass)
Computer Skills Test: Pass/Fail
Background: Pass/Fail
Polygraph: Pass/Fail
The department also requests that up to the top 20 candidates from the
written move on to the oral board.
