FW: Pigmented Sealer for Shotcrete Walls
Hi Mark,
The SF quantity is for the entirety of the shotcrete on the project, not just the added SW2 wall to maintain uniformity
What little information I have on pigmented sealer costs seems to indicate anywhere from S1.50 - 52.50 a SF applied,
again that's very limited background information, somewhat outdated. lt appears through internet research, WSDOT
and City projects primarily cost this work incidental to the concrete improvement. Scarsella is requesting a straight
S1.10lSF increase for pigmented sealer in lieu of stain,
At recent meetings it's also been noted that the bridge only requires pigmented sealer at outside face of barrier down
face of last girder both side. WSDOT standard specification only include locations "as shown on plans." We cannot find
where crossbeams or columns are included on this project. Does the City want to request sealer coating be added to
bridge columns and crossbeams?
Let me know

Getting back on added pigmented sealer for the bridge, currentiy we do not include sealing of the cotumns or
crossbeams under the bridge in cont.act work. Matt Scarsella has quoted a cost of S2/5F to apply WA Gray
pigmented sealer on the columns and crossbeams under the bridge. There is approximately 2,700 SF (55,400)
of column area, plus 3,410 5F (56,820) of exposed crossbeam for around 6,110 SF (S12,200) total for both.
lf this is something the City would like to add to the contract let me know

Hello Chad,
Scarsella has proposed a premium of 57.232/SF to apply pigmented sealer to the shotcrete walls rather than
stain. Based on an estimated quantrty of 10,000 SF the total add would be $12,320.00. Are you okay with this
add ?
FYl...the addition of sealer to the bridge columns and crossbeams would likely be a different (higheri unit price
ratherthan just a premium costfordifferent products. We wil{ keepyou posted on thatdiscussion.

Hello EriclMark,
Did either of you hear a decision on the additional pigmented sealer on the columns/crossbeams?

Subject: RE: Pigmented Sealer for Shotcrete Walls
Getting back on added pigmented sealer for the bridge, currently we do not include sealing of the columns or
crossbeams under the bridge in contract work. Matt Scarsella has quoted a cost of 52/SF to apply WA Gray
pigmented sealer on the columns and crossbeams under the bridge. There is approximately 2,7OO SF (55,400)
of column area, plus 3,410 5F (56,SZO; of exposed crossbeam for around 6,110 SF (512,200) total for both.
lf this is something the City would like to add to the contract let me know
Thanks,
Jason

Hello Chad,
Scarsella has proposed a premium of 51.232/SF to apply pigmented sealer to the shotcrete walls rather than
stain. Based on an estimated quantity of 10,000 SF the total add would be 512,320.00. Are you okay with this
add?
FYl...the addition of sealer to the bridge columns and crossbeams would likely be a different (higher) unit price
rather than just a premium cost for different products. We will keep you posted on that discussion.

Hi Mark,
The SF quantity is for the entirety of the shotcrete on the project, not just the added SW2 wall to maintain
uniformlty. What little information I have on pigmented sealer costs seems to indicate anywhere from 51.50 -
52.SO a SF applied, again that's very limited background information, somewhat outdated. lt appears through
internet research, WSDOT and City projects primarily cost this work incidental to the concrete improvement.
Scarsella is requesting a straight $1.10/SF increase for pigmented sealer in lieu of stain.
At recent meetings it's also been noted that the bridge only requires pigmented sealer at outside face of barrier
down face of last girder both side. WSDOT standard specification only include locations "as shown on plans."
We cannot find where crossbeams or columns are included on this project. Does the City want to request sealer
coating be added to bridge columns and crossbeams?
Let me know
Thanks,
Jason

Hi.Jason,
Conco got back to me on the change to the shotcrete wall. Applying pigmented sealer instead of the specified
color stain is an additional S1.10 / SF
