Unless otherwise noted, the Parks and Recreation Commission meets at 6 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday
of each month in Kent City Hall Campus, Centennial Building - Room 402
400 West Gowe, Kent 98032. During COVID these meeting will be held remotely.

1. Call to Order/Roll Call:
Commission Chair Taylor called the meeting to order at 5:15 pm.
2. Changes to Agenda:
None
3. Approve Minutes dated June 24, 2020:

4. Public Comment (if any):

5. Commissioner Updates (what are you hearing from family, friends,
neighbors, etc., questions, etc.):
Director Parascondola requested input from Commissioners what they have heard
from citizens regarding Parks during the Pandemic. Q&A occurred. No actions or
decisions made.
6. Status of 2020 Programs and Services:
The recreation division will remain closed until the end of the year. Q&A occurred.
No actions or decisions made.
7. 2021-2022 Budget Update:
Director Parascondola updated the Commission on staff reduction as well as other
budget impacts to the Parks Department. Q&A occurred. No actions or decisions
made.
8. Commission Next Steps:
Director Parascondoala requested feedback from the Commission regarding how
they wanted to operate in the new work environment. Parks open space plan and
outreach plan is coming up as well as the Race and Equity Plan. Commissioner
Minor suggested that the Commission move to a Quarterly meeting due to the
impacts of COVID. Chair Taylor indicated to the Commission moving the next
meeting to October. Director Parascondola suggested moving the October
meeting to the first part of October and cancel the September meeting to allow
the Commission to prepare for the October Council Meeting regarding the Budget.
Q&A occurred. A Doodle poll will be created to find the next meeting date. The

Commission also agreed to hold on to the consultant work until the Commission
can meet in person.
9. Director/Commission Updates:
ShoWare event this Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, giving away masks and food.

Commission Chair Minutoli concluded the meeting at 6:11 pm.
