Vice Chairwoman Moschel MOVED and Peter Maurer SECONDED the motion to approved the `minutes of the March 28, 1991 meeting ;as printed Motion carried. CDBG NEEDS ASSESSMENT Alice Shobe presented an assessment on the survey entitled "Needs Survey of Kent Neighborhood Strategy Area and Targeted Areas" which was distributed to all Commissioners at the February 28, 1991 Nmeeting. Alice pointed out the high number of low income seniors in the targeted areas. The top two human services needs identified in the l survey are ; senior services and services for domestic violence. It is interesting 'to� note 'that in the targeted area 77 percent of the households have no residents under the a+ge of ` 18 ye7.a4.s. Peter; Mouser and Dee Mosehel 'will not be•present at the third agency toux. . ` N£�9 :BU$3NE88 EMERGENCY SEVERE WEATHER'SHELTER FROGRANt: >FUND3NG E'OR REMAINDER `O�' 1991 Tamara Brown of Catholic Community Services Emergency; Assistance Program' advised the Commission` that the program started on January 15, 1991 with a budget of $15,418 and ended on April 15, 1991 after spending $8357. A total of 227 individuals were served; 76 single men, 64 children, and 38 families. Of the total, 33 percent were single men and 28 percent were children. She noted, ` that CCS -is the only 'agency in South King County that provides this type of'. service for single men, women or couples without children. During the period of January 15 through April 15 there were 45 cold weather days, tahich is on target with the National Weather Service average of 50 cold weather- days per year. The DAWN staff gave a presentation on what they are doing to secure funding and some of the programs they have in place to acquire the matching funding they need for their shelter. Another topic discussed was the use of common application forams.
