Cellular: Cellular uses the same technology cell phones use. A USB modem from Verizon, Sprint or AT&T is placed in the cellular router in the i4-POD. Pros: Cellular makes the i4-POD to be truly portable allowing it to be easily moved from one location to another because it will only require power. Cons: Connectivity will be as reliable as cellular is in an area. Signal strength and quality, bandwith traffic, etc. affects how long you're able to stay connected. There is also a monthly charge from the cellular provider and additional charges for exceeding data limits if you do not have unlimited. Requirements: USB modem must be compatible with the router in the i4-POD (routers differ in each i4- POD model. List of cornpatible modems will be provided to you). Cellular provider must configure USB modem to have a public static IP address that allows attached devices to be reached remotely. 2. Hard Line: Hard line is a direct connection using EtherneVCAT cable from the i4-POD directly to a switch or router. Pros: i4-POD can be viewed in-network (a computer or laptop using the same router/switch) which allows constant monitoring. Cons: Depending on security measures in that network, only certain computers/laptops may be allowed to view i4-PODs and/or remote viewing (viewing from desktops/laptops from outside of network) may not be possible. Requirements: A LAN IP address must be reserved. Ethernet cable must be run from the router/switch to the location of the i4-POD. 3. Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi is a wireless connection us¡ng a client transmitter at the i4-POD. The transmitter can connect to a wireless s¡gnal coming from a network in a nearby building. lf the network wireless signal is not strong enough outdoors, an access point can be placed outs¡de the building and hard-lined to the network (router/switch inside the building). Pros: i4-POD can be viewed in-network (a computer or laptop using the same router/switch) which allows constant monitoring. i4-POD can be placed away from the building but still be in the same network without having to run cables - thus minimizing infrastructure costs. Cons: Depending on security measures in that network, only certain computers/laptops may be allowed to view PODs and/or remote viewing (viewing from desktops/laptops from outside of network) may not be possible. Connectivity quality will be affected by distance, obstructions (trees, buildings, etc.) and weather. Requirements: A LAN IP address must be reserved for the POD, client transmitter and/or access point. If using an access point, an Ethernet cable must be run from router/switch to the location of access point.
