and IAFF, Local 1747
representing the Fire Assistant Chiefs
The purpose of this memorandum of understanding is to amend and clarify the parties'
agreement with regards to the cost of living increase for the Fire Assistant Chiefs 1997-
1999 Contract, Section 4.1-Wages.
The parties have discussed and agree on the following:
■ Effective January 1, 1999, the Assistant Chiefs will receive a cost of living adjustment
equal to 148% of a first class Firefighter base pay. Because the Firefighter contract is
still under negotiations for 1999 wages, for purposes of calculating the Assistant Chiefs'
wage adjustment for 1999, the Firefighter's 1998 base pay will be increased by ninety
percent (90%) of the Seattle-Tacoma-Bremerton CPI-W, July-July Index, which is
equivalent to 2.3%.
■ If the Firefighters settle above or below ninety percent (90%) of the CPI-W for 1999, the
Assistant Chiefs' wages will be adjusted accordingly to reflect the actual settlement.
The above is the parties' full and complete agreement with regards to the Fire Assistant
Chief wages for 1999.
