The City of Kent (City) and the Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority (RFA)
entered an interlocal agreement entitled "Interlocal Agreement for the Division of
Services Resulting from the Formation of the Kent Fire Department Regional Fire
Authority" which was last signed by RFA Chair, Debbie Raplee, on August 4, 2010 and
Amended by the parties in March 2011 "First Amended Interlocal Agreement for the
Division of Services Resulting from the Formation of the Kent Fire Department Regional
Fire Authority and further amended on October 1, 2011 by an Exhibit Amendment
pursuant to Section XIV of the Agreement"Interlocal."
Exhibit H of the Interlocal details the agreement between the City and the RFA for the
City's provision of self-insured health and wellness services to RFA employees.
Paragraph 1.13 of Exhibit H allows for termination by either party with three hundred
sixty-five (365)days advance notice with a specified termination date of December 31"
Each party has determined that it will be in that party's best interest to terminate
Exhibit H effective no later than December 31,2012.
The parties agree to work cooperatively and in good faith to mutually agree to an earlier
termination date if an earlier termination date is in the best interest of both parties.
This mutual notice complies with the requirements of paragraph 1.13 of Exhibit H.
The parties hereby mutually provide written notice of their mutual intent to terminate
Exhibit H of the Interlocal consistent with the above provisions.
